because men are seen as more of a threat, especially to women. and girls are cute :)

Its human nature. If you are a motorist, why take a chance on picking up a male who can potentially harm you (although there are women who prey on the unsuspected also).
A lot of times male motorist do so for companionship and the hope that they will score.
Then there are the the other type...the lechers. My advice is to avoid hitch hiking at all cost. whether you are a man or woman. The next person who pick you up can turn out to be your worst (and last) mistake of your life.

Maybe you shoudl hang around the docks.. you'll probably get a nice sailer man to pick you up and give you a ride, especially if he's been at sea for last six months. He'll be very appreciative of the variety.

Good question. I have been observing this from my childhood even. It is because of the sympathy they have in the society. Males dont have that plenty. Because they are busy showing sympathy on their opposite sex.

i guess they see woman as less a threat.. but it is not safe anymore for anyone to give lifts to people they do not know..this world is really getting dangerous out there.. take a bus..

generally men are more dangerous to pick up then woman, most men just assume if a woman attacked him, he would be able to defend himself better than if a man would attack, not saying this is always the case
