Depends on species of truffle but the most prized are often under oak trees.

the only truffle i know about is the chocolates.. sorry if i do not know of any other truffle.. but the chocolates are great..can not get around them very much or a person will look like a barn.. i am going to cheat a little here because i saw someone else answer and it said that a truffle grows under a oak tree.. but i have to find out what that is....i actually never heard of a truffle except candy..

The truffle grows under the ground around trees that have the fungus growing on the roots, either naturally or by inoculation. And it's usually oak.
