Just say I believe in God, but I think that people who make statements about God being awesome and suchlike are not looking at the bigger picture or even the smaller one. Meaning that I believe they are just reciting religion rather than thinking about it, and are fooling themselves and are blind followers.

I am not concerned about any single religion just the truth. Surely there are elements of truth in everything. I know what I believe and I am not ignorant. I consider things carefully before questioning them.

What if they have misread the word of God, and I believe that they are misguided. Does that make a better question.

You have factored out faith from your calculations.

As some one said earlier, you will have to make your own mind up on that.
As regards christians, the important thing to remember is that if you treat others with resepct and love, you will be closer to god/allah/buddha. Its what in your heart that counts.
If you are refering to bible authenticity, it has been translated from hebrew to greek to latin to english and there are many versions. Taking it literally may be a touch too far. The message is the same though.
You are a part of god creation, and god is within all of us, ,religious or atheist. Its up to you whether you accept that.
People go through many different types of enlightenment and you are asking the right question in the wrong way. Maybe the question should read "can I be enlightened with religion?" yes and no.
All religion is between you and big guy upstairs, the rest of the stuff is just a bunch of sundries. read all the religios texts from other faiths and you will notice that the parallels outweigh the differences 10 to 1. So which do you choose? Agian, what works for you and your spirit.
Check out Wayne Dyer - the power of intention, it'll get you further along your path whatever it may be.
Peace

People have different beliefs, you shouldn't dismiss them whether they be Christian, Jewish or other. From an outsiders point of view, religion is a matter of opinion. Some may belief religion to be fact, however there is no right or wrong religion as there are no definitive answers in life. Stick to the morals and rules you believe in as long as you believe they are honest and have good intention.

I also am proud that you're heretic - this God is the least moral personality of the bible and has actual massacred thousands contained in the so called Holy e book - I propose even devil proves to be good than him. Even for the sake of argument, let'st say that God exists - why may i believe and worship one of those bully? i'd quite worship the Queen of england! the sorrowful ingredient is - instead of searching on the God personality and what he actual did in the course of the bible with the intention to judge who he quite is, no no no, they could seek for passages the position it says God is sweet, proper loving father who doesn't sin, anger and so on Anger contained in the recent testomony is the fruit of the flesh and under no circumstances the spirit - wait, Did God get offended in any respect contained in the holy e book, for sure he did!!! for individuals that position self belief in those books, i'd say they don't look stupid yet BRAINWASHED because if that mild of reality and reality enters them, they could snap out of their superstitious bull***** so immediately that they are going to start up preaching atheism themselves. The bible isn't some thing yet a variety of of fairytales, likely some historic occurences with plenty and far of mistakes, legends and myths and so on today the rainbow shows up because God made some promise to a tribe contained in the middle East that he may under no circumstances flood the earth back? human beings outfitted sky scrapers and so God including his entourage desirous to come back down and confuse human beings language because they were getting so on the point of heaven - PLEASEEEEEEEE those non secular human beings pick deliverance!

To answer you're question, no you are not wrong. A belief doesn't have a right or wrong aswer, it just is.
Christians believe in the word of God, and you believe they are fools for doing so. You both believe in something, albeit conflicting beliefs.
