Not again....
Let me give you one analogy which might help...I work on software and computers. One day I took my laptop to one of the villages in my country and started telling about computer programming...do you know what did those villagers say to me? "this is all crazy talk..."..

Well with all due respect to your comment and no offense, most of the scriptures across globe including Bible and Hindu scriptures like Gita have highest level of science of life defined in very cryptic yet very simplified manner. Those who are focused, committed and deeply devoted can only understand truth from desciption given in these scriptures. For others, they are just stories nothing more. Trick to understand these scriptures is not to focus on stories but on the messages and interpretations behind them. its like when some one is pointing to moon to show you moon, don't focus and look at finger, look at moon...

I hope I had been atleast little bit helpful to calm down your discomfort.

Almost all of it makes sense. It's just that many folks often misunderstand it...including the many of the fundamentalist Christians who claim to understand it oh-so-well. Much of the Bible is meant to be interpreted literally but quite a lot of it is meant to be interpreted FIGURATIVELY. Much of the Bible is parable and/or metaphor. This seemingly obvious fact escapes many people. For example, was the world really created in a few days like the Bible says? Of course not; that's ridiculous. The creation story is merely a metaphor for the omnipotence of God, the creator.

One possible explanation why you think it's crazy is because the message is lost in translation. Remember that the original transcript is not written in English. The key is to get the message and not get lost on the seeming inconsistencies.

Perhaps you should start with the Children's Edition. It's much easier to comprehend so the messages, parables, psalms, and other stories should start making sense to you. Just keep reading. The effort is worth it.

very few books or pieces of text written between approximately 1500 and 1900 years ago will make sense now especially one re-translated as many times as the bible. It was never the word of god only mans interpretation of a prophet claiming to be the son of God. This has left it open to many misinterpretations and deliberate omissions of parts of the story or text.We will all find out one day whether or not it was crazy-talk or not although I do not expect God if he exists too be half as judge-full as many of those who have corresponded here.If he is then most of you religious or not, are F**ked.

when ever ther is an error or contradiction in a text like the bible it means that inevitably it has been ultered. i speak from experience. i have read a bible from a church which shall remain nameless in sydney's west and another in melbourne and u know what they were almost totally different. not only the words but including the meaning. after this scenario i looked for an untained religion which could provide me proof of correctnous and answer all my questions. i found islam which although has been under alot of pressure by and misconcieved by the media isnt bad after all in fact i found it more tolerant than chritiainity. i found a quran in sydney's mosque and another in lebanon, and they were identicle, word for word, dot for dot, even though they had different covers and different fonts. so look deep, if you dont understand something after reading a few times than that thing isnt for you

Reading the Bible requires help. You just can't read it like a novel and hope to understand. It's not crazytalk, it's "Godspeak" - it makes so much sense, it's scary - written so long ago but oh so timeless, so relevant today.

It's a tool for those who seek to condemn and feed off thoe who are weak. It's supposed to be word of "god". Yet it was written by man, who is inherently wrong and imperfect, and obviously put thier own opinons and views into it.

If it was really the word of god, it wouldn't need to be a historical account, there wouldn't have been books left out of it, and it wouldn't need translating and interpreting. Face it, it's a waste.
