When eggs are bad the gas Hydrogen sulphide is produced due to the disintegration of tha yolk. This gas is displaced to one end of the egg hence the floating. In a good egg, the entire egg is filled with the yolk and albumen, no gases, since nothing is decaying hence the sink.

Eggs will float if you add salt in it/if you don`t add salt in it it would not float. You should try it but ,make sure you add the water first, then gently put in the egg,and add the salt in the cup, where the water and egg is, and then compare it with an egg in and normal water with no salt.I hope you like it thank you.

If eggs float, throw away. If they sink, they are good. Easy way to remember - if you boil fresh eggs, think of how they are in the pan, they stay on the bottom of the pan. If you see them on the surface, they are no good.

When they're bad, there's Carbon Dioxide in them. The bacteria ate the stuff in the egg and crapped out carbon dioxide. That makes them float.
