O/D is over drive.
If it says O/D off, that means your over drive is off. Basically it acts like a higher gear. If you have a 3spd Automatic with overdrive, it's more like a 4 speed. It just gives you that extra gear ratio for overtaking vehicles or a little extra get up. There should be a button on your gear shift. Push it again, and the light will go on. Now O/D can work whenever it wants to.

It means that your overdrive has been turned off. That means you pushed that button on your gear shift. O/D is automatically enabled on Toyotas, so you have to push the button to turn it off. Overdrive = better gas mileage when you are not shifting a lot.

You have pushed the button that prevents the car from shifting into overdrive. Typically this button is on the shift lever if it is on the floor console. Push the button again to turn the light off and allow the car to shift into overdrive. You'll get better fuel mileage.

It means that the overdrive is off and it will not shift into 4'th gear. I recommend to keep it on. Just press the little button on the side of the shifter.

It is telling you to turn off your overdrive. It doesn't mean that it is off... it means that it is on, but to remember to turn it off. I used to be confused too.
My friend has an '05 corolla S. . . and we debated it and then we looked in the manual. He's also a Toyota Tech at the local dealer.

OverDrive is Off- means the car's motor isn't pushing as hard as when it is on. You only need overdrive for going up steep hills or overtaking quickly.

it means you have turned off your overdrive. I was told overdrive should only be turned off for passing and climbing hills - I dunno why, but that's all i use it for and it does make that process easier on the car - drops the RPMs, I think. But you should have a button on the side of the shifter that will turn that on or off - it is set to on by default.
