Clearly marked U.S. Marine helicopters are evacuating U.S. civilians in Lebanon. What should our response be if Hezbulla starts shooting at our evac missions?

There is no choice in this, if attacked soldiers will with return fire to the source of attack and destroy it ,evacuate survivors,and wait for command to give a new policy for mission.
I this first shooting starts to spread,by involving more and more fighters, you could be involved in the fight if you want that fight or if you do not want to give any reason to the enemy to use your tactical withdrawal as propaganda.
But to assure you, they need some rocket technology to shoot helis down, and that kind of atack would be intentional from hezballahs side, witch means that there is a will of their leadership to start military warfare with US troops .

This is a very likely scenario actually. Look at the USS Liberty incident...I'm sure Bush and friends are just itching to get involved and a helicopter full of hippy tourists wouldn't make them shed a tear.

That would be like committing suicide. America already hates Hezbollah, and an act of war like that would be the nail in there coffin. I have no doubt we would react swiftly to destroy Hezbollah, Bush isn't the type of President who is just going to take that sort of thing.

We should all go and slap the lady who posted here a couple of days ago saying that she sent her kids to Lebanon for a vacation and now wants our people to risk their lives to pull them out.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't trust Iran or Syria
either. I wouldn't put it past any of them to take a shot at one of the rescue ships and if caught say "Sorry" I thought it was Israeli.

ALL the answers people gave are stupid! What about ALL the innocent women, children and men being killed by ISRAELIS?
I hope the Israeli's accidently kill their OWN soldiers in one of their attacks!!
