Hello, I'm curious when writing a woman a professional email, let's say for a job position is it proper to address her as Mrs. or Ms. in your opening greeting?

When you know a woman is married it is more polite to address her as Mrs unless she has specifically told you otherwise.
If you are not sure, think about this:

Mrs - r = Ms
Miss - is = Ms

So if you're not sure, Ms would cover both & should not be offencive to the person receiving your email.

There's been a lot of arguments over this. As a married woman, I prefer to be called Mrs. If you're unsure if the woman to whom you're writing is married, Ms. is always the safer way to go.

You should always use Ms. unless you know for certain, because they told you, that they are a Mrs. The general rule is to use Ms. unless otherwise specified.

I always thought we address Miss for un-married, Mrs for married, and Ms for the divorced........
If not sure which then address as M.......
solves the problem and confusion then ;)

I use Ms.

Not all women are married, but all have been a Ms. at some point in their lives.

always use Mrs. that covers younger and older women, Ms. is designated for the very young and for women you know are single, the other way both bases are covered.
