I have a 99' Honda Civic with a stock stereo. I can play burned cd's perfectly fine, but I can't skip ahead to other tracks. I have tried to clean the lens, and have used multiple types of CD-Rs. I do have some burned cd's that work fine using Memorex CD-R's, but they were burned on someone else's computer. So I'm not sure if it's my burner, the crap program I use, or the CD-R brand.
I know the easiest thing is to buy a new car stereo. I can't right now, so please don't suggest it... =)

try to narrow down the problem.

can you skip ahead tracks on your cd's if you play them on another cd player? if not, then the problem is probably your cd's. if you can skip tracks on someone else's player, then it is probably your cd player. narrow that down first.

if the problem is your player, you already tried cleaning the lens, try hitting it with a hammer when it wont skip ahead tracks, it will either do what you want, or it will break, then you can get a new player.

if the problem is your cd-then try narrowing down if it is the cd's that you are using or your burner or your software, using the same methods of elimination as outlined above. remember, whenever something doesnt work, use the hammer.

I had a problem when I first started burning disks. I someone made one big track with all the songs rather than a track for each song. So when I went to play it I could not skip to the next track because there wasn't one.

Check to see if there are different settings on your burning program. That may be the problem.

perchance as a results of the indisputable fact that is a production unit stereo the perks are constrained. My boyfriend has an alpine stereo (no longer production unit put in) and all he performs are MP3 burned cd's and they continuously coach artist and identify.
