He may have said that.
I could find probably a million cult members from varying groups all to testify the same.
It means nothing.

Some people might have that reaction. Each of the worlds major faiths have little differences in teaching and practice which will appeal to people differently. Due to life experience and circumstance everyone will deal with the faiths teachings differently.
Many christian and Buddhist converts have a similar reactions. The peace and understanding found in Buddhism and the forgiveness in Christianity we appeal to those who seek those things. With Islam the rigid structure and submission to the will of Allah is important.
There is no right answer. There is no correct religion. Organized religion is a construct of man. Faith itself is the path to God.

Of course its true - a person who is sufficiently lost can find meaning for his life in even the craziest fantasy - be it islam, christianity, or any other myth,

Oh, it must be true since some guy said it. I told my kids that there are men on the moon who are gonna come take over the earth one day, and now they are in their '30's and they still believe it. Get a life jerk.

yes it is very true
I converted to Islam too .
Islam collect between religion and life ... it makes you love your god and all people with different kind there is no difference between people . we all created by one god and god send his prophets and messengers to let people know him .. there are people know god without prophet tell them about god .....
to be Moslem mean love peace and believe in all prophet and all holly books and believe that ... there is no god but one god and the prophet Mohammed is the last prophet ....
the prophet Mohammed said that " I'm just a Stone in the building of all prophets and this Stone make the building complete .

Maybe, also maybe he has been watching too much drama television lately. Who knows. Maybe he just woke up to find something he decided to really believe in all at once. It has happened before. This one instance can not be lheld out as proof of anything. Just forget about it in any case. Please.

I think that scenario could happen to anyone who developed a strong passion for a newly-found faith. Any belief backed by a strong faith can work wonders both physically (psycho-somatic) and mentally.
