PARBOIL
To boil food briefly in water, cooking it only partially. Parboiling is used for dense food like carrots and potatoes. After being parboiled, these foods can be added at the last minute to quicker-cooking ingredients. Parboiling insures that all ingredients will finish cooking at the same time. Since foods will continue to cook once they have been removed from the boiling water, they should be shocked in ice water briefly to preserve color and texture. Cooking can then be completed by sauteeing or the parboiled vegetable can be added to simmering soups or stews.

Parboil is an action which refers to partially boiling food in water before finishing cooking it by another method. When something has been parboiled it has been partially cooked; that is, subjected to boiling for a brief period of time.

I'm a chef, par means partial, boil means boil. So simple, but like all cooking in a restaurant, so difficult. We try to do it all right, but hey, no one is perfect, especially when you are dealing with such an un perfect GOD, He is so busy with other galaxies right now, so I don't hold a grudge. He'll be back soon to perfect us..

It means to partially boil the item whether it's ribs before grilling or potato's. How long depends on the item you are cooking.

It means to partly boil. I do "roast" potatoes that way, partly boil, drain, and when they're half-cooked either deep fry them or spray them with oil and bake in the oven. Makes them lovely and crisp.
