Do you think before the fall that he may have physically been able to walk in the garden with Adam and Eve there? Was his separation not only mental but physical? Do you think that when mans eyes were open, he could not stand to look upon a Holy God? Just wondering..........

I think God literally walked with Adam and Eve. God made them to share a special relationship with Him. Even a father, here in earth, does not talk to his son from far away. Fathers like to be the closest to his sons they can be. That longing of the parents for their sons comes from our heavenly Father.

The type of the relationship God wants to have with human beings is shown in the book of Genesis, when God formed Adam and Eve with His own hands, unlike the rest of the creation which was made by His voice. He surely came down until His feet touched the ground and bend over to formed the first man and give him life by breathing in him.

After men sinned, they cannot longer see God face to face, becasue no one can see God and live. Sin is what separates us from God. However, God didn't give up and throughout the Bible you can see Him finding ways to communicate with His sons (through the angels, prophets, the Sanctuary in the midle of the Israel's camp, speaking from a cloud, etc...). So God has to hide His glory in order to not danger His creatures. God's longing to be with human beings is shown in Jesus Christ: God became flesh, hide His glory, and lived phisically among us. That's what the name Immanuel --another name given to Jesus-- means: God with us (Matthew 1:23)

Once Jesus returned to Heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to be with us, just as He had promised. Through Him and the grace of Christ we can have a closer bound with God than the angels. And someday we'll see Him face to face.

Yes, I believe that the Lord God actually walked in the garden of Eden. Gen 3:8

If you don't mind, I would like to point something out to you about Genesis. As you read about God's role in the garden of Eden you will notice that sometimes the word "God" is spoken with "Lord" as in Lord God and other times you will only see the word "God". In my opinion, this is done to describe two different individuals and many believe that the Lord God is in fact "the Word" as described in St. John 1:1-3 and the Word is Jesus Christ in human form.
So it was actually the "Lord God" that walked in the garden of Eden and not God Almighty.

2. The second part of you question about the separation of God and Adam, mental? physical? Well I think that Adam did lose all connections with God Almighty because of his sin, especially the most important one... the Spiritual connection.
3. The third part, is that I wouldn't doubt that maybe they had a problem looking at the Lord God because of their sin but I think it was also because they were a shamed because they now understood that they betrayed God and they felt really bad about it.

I hope these answers helps a little if any thing.

Yes I believe that Adam and Eve were created in the exact likeness and physical makeup of God and they did walk and interact with each other. Then came the disobedience, first the snake was changed physically, then Adam and Eve--God could no longer walk with them, the Garden was physically off limits --HE placed an angel at the entrance--The Garden was a piece of Heaven that God brought down remember HE had to walk in it too. The Garden was physically changed too. I believe that we will return to this type of body when in the end in the new Heaven and new Earth

Yes, since God is all powerful, He could even choose to 'lower' Himself so that He could walk (and really walk, physically speaking) in the cool of the garden for the purpose of communing with both Adam and Eve. It wasn't just a way of writing or speaking to indicate that God was with them.

This also goes to tell you that God loved mankind so much that He is able to run the extra miles for us - He chose to come down to our levels and meet us where we are. How wonderful that is! Everything was pure and there was no sin - nothing to separate man from God. Hope this helps you to understand God a little more. =)

After Adam and Eve had taken the forbidden fruit and fallen into sin, their eyes were open. They knew that they had sin written in them, and they could not bear to look at the Holy God. That is why it is also mentioned in the Old Testament that no one could look at God and live after that.

Good question.. guess one day when we reach heaven we can find the answer... my thing is that since God can do anything, then maybe he did actually walk with Adam and Eve. I try not to worry about things like this ... it only takes my concentration off the more important things that God wants us to know and do.

There is a possibility that one of the triune Gods walked on Earth before the fall. God is everything everywhere that I hardly think there is a separation at all. God is not a bragging God that you could not dare look at Him with bare eyes. We just couldn't see HIm because we are not holy/pure (due to our sins) and we are in our human flesh but soon as we die, we can see Him face to face.

It says, "No man has seen God". This would mean Adam and Eve as well........ walking in the Garden is figuretively speaking but remember they did commune together. This is the part that was removed after they sinned. They were no longer able to commune with the Lord God Almighty.

Jesus restores the communication part and paid for our sins. Someday we too will see God.... for our belief in Jesus, His son and for what He did for us.

If God exists, he is not a physical presence. Therefore, he could have have walked in the Garden of Eden anymore than I could have.

I think it was probably Jesus walking in the Garden. He is the physical representation of the invisible God. I could be wrong though.

If you read Geneses - does it not say that he created Adam in his own image? Yes - God did and does have a physical body. Keep reading. You'll find the answers in there. A little prayer power helps as well. You'll find you understand what your reading better!
