everybody in America suddenly turned against Islam after what a handful of people started killing other people in the name of Islam, Most people don't even know that the Great Indonisian Nation is predominantly Muslim, I don't see them strapping a bomb on their kids, or the country of Dubai (which can probably be the best runned country in the world right now)are all muslims. Muslim don't go and strap bombs on our self and kill other people. Its terrorist, and iam tired of them throwing the word Islam Terrorist all over the media in an effort to taint this religion. It will be like thinking all Christians are like the Ku Klux Klan because they were killing all those black, mexican, and jews in the name of christ, or how about Hitler. The media always try to make some one or something a scapegoat for all the wrongs in the world i guess for the next ten years it will be the muslims. It used to be the Blacks, than the Jews, then the communist and now muslims. thanks for the $ 3 gas Bush

Terrorists are following the verses in the Quran that calls for Muslims worldwide to capture, and behead the "infidels". I've read it myself. Why are you against the terrorists if you read from the same book they follow? Are you disobeying the verses in the Quran that calls for YOU to capture and "behead the infidels"? And, of course, the quran promises a free ticket into heaven along with 70 virgins if you become a martyr and die while taking others with you. That's why they strap bombs to their chests. It is a reflection of their obedience to the quran. They're unfortunately obeying the murderous verses in the quran. Perhaps you ignore these verses and don't want to admit they're there, but they are. The Quran is the source for their actions. It isn't a religion of peace. I've read all the hatred that Muhammad spews out against christians and jews, and then calls for a "jihad" against them, and to cut their heads off, or to die and be a "martyr" while slaughtering them. This didn't start on 9/11 either.

The majority of people DO NOT blame all Muslims. Still, I will always be turned off by any religious group who claims theirs is the only true religion. If it works for them, great, but no man is worthy of judging another man or can truly speak for God. It's all about respecting what each other believes. We could all learn from all religions.

Besides, it's not that hard to tell the good Muslim groups from the bad simply by their actions. You can't deny there are bad ones who claim their right to kill under the banner of Islam. The same thing has happened in other religions also. Research the Inquisition and you have the same thing.

You also in all honesty cannot deny these bad groups present a threat to many parts of the world. Why don't Muslims clean their own house of the things which give them all a bad name. Why did Good Arabs allow these extremists to flourish in their countries? That's the part that really bothers me.

Not Islam but terrorists. Yes, it is wrong for the West to stereotype them together. But you must consider the mindset of George Bush and most of his fellow Americans. America had once adopted an isolationalist stance, that is to say, ignore everybody and mind her own business. Guess what? It led to World War II. If you read your history textbooks, you'll know that America did not enter the League of Nations, an organization formed after WWI. Therefore, it was difficult to impose sanction without the support of one of the leading nations at that time. So? So Italy invaded Abyssinia, Japan invaded Manchuria, China, and got off scot-free. Hitler looked on with interest. Hitler then marched into Rhineland and and forced a union, Anchluss, with Austria, and claimed Czechoslovakia. The League was powerless. Why? Britain and France were weak after WWI. They need America's resources, America's military might. But guess what? America stayed out, and thus WWII. Having said this far, I would like to say that if America did not interfere, the realm of terrorism would be expanded greatly.

Good points. . .and how many Americans are aware that, before the current decade is over, there will be more Muslim Americans than Jewish Americans?

The challenge and opportunity for Muslims is, of course, to follow the great US tradition of Pluralism. . .and seek better represention through "influence". . .at the highest levels of state and national government. To date, Muslims. . .as a group. ..have not done this as effectively as Jewish groups. . .possibly because they are so very diverse (as you point out) and come from both Asia and the Middle East. . .but also they do not always settle in large cities or urban areas and there is a wide range of business activities/professions pursued. . .with Michigan and Ohio being perhaps the two states that have the highest population of Muslim Americans, at least on a per capita basis.

One of the greatest needs at present though. . .is a greater understanding and appreciation of what the Islamic religious traditions are. . .so that "tolerance" can be practiced better. What is also perhaps needed is a meaningful and significant contribution to our culture. . .especially the arts. . .by way of example, do not underestimate the effect that "Fiddler on the Roof" (or the Neil Simon plays) had, in its time, for bringing a wider appreciation and respect for ethnic Jewish customs and traditions. . .and without the express intent of conversion or intrusion.

Thank you for your question!

i am so tired of answering this question. we don't blame the islamic faith, we blame the radicals, otherwise known as thugs, for the unrest. may i make a suggestion? my suggestion is that when you first come into yahoo answers, before you ask a question, look through the questions. you will see that most common people think alike. i am a common american. i don't want you to hate me, i don't hate you at all. i don't like the radicals. thy are not conducive to a peaceful world, and this world should be peaceful. for the most part, we are all people just raising children, wanting nice comfortable homes. wanting to know that we can raise our children in our homes, and then have them come back to visit us with their children on special occaisions. there should be nothing like war. jihad? come on! the word jihad can be compared to the kkk here. we don't like them either. we all live on this planet. that makes us related as a world of humanity. every culture must step up and stop the radicals that keep us from living a happy peaceful trusting life.

Most of the west doesn't portray Muslims as terrorists, we portray Muslim Extremists as terrorists. And that is 100% true. You don't like that? You need to do something about it! These extremists are making a bad name for Muslims. KKK members don't say "I'm killing this black guy in the name of God", They just don't like blacks. Muslim extremists, however, DO kill in the name of Allah. So the portrayal of Muslim Extremists as terrorists is true. Just as a matter of clarification, I think the KKK is a bunch of idiots too.

Unfortunately you are right. It's our U.S. government and the media that portrays Muslims in a bad light, especially after the September 11th events.

They bombed train station in Bombay THey aren't going to hit places in which they have total control. Its in areas where they want to take control or want to fear them.

No not all muslims are terrorists and neither are all terrorists muslim. Butthe majority of the ones hitting the Israel and India are. And the only ones who ever hit the US were.
