try not to say the word NO, it's negative sounding regardless what you say before or after the word NO.

Say, I'm and doing just fine and will let you know if I need>>>>>what they offer>>>>>

or I'm good, thank you.

or I'll let you know if i'd like more, this is good enough.

or i'll manage and keep you in mind if i need help.

**say YOU to focus on them and use let you know when.....to let them you you'll think about it.

In general? Well, tell them upfront that you can not commit to something they want or need you to do. Tell then you don't have time or know how to do it or want to do it b/c you are busy. You can always just tell them exactly what the reason is because they should understand that and accept your honesty. It is better to be honest and say no than to stress about making promises or taking on a project that you do not want to do or have the resources to do it with. I have learned to say no, but it is hard at times.

I like "math tutor" s answers! If people are asking you to do something, I would say " I would love to help, but" or "it is a great program, but" or " it is a great idea, but" ........I just can't help you at this time (no further excuse needed). If you are sure they won't hound you next week, you could add "maybe you can call me next time".

Aww thanks...(give fake feeling of sadness that you really want to do what ever it is)...but I can't, I need to make sure (X Person, someone you both know or work with) has everything under control. (It's not really a lie it's what we call extended exaggeration of vagueness)

no thank you,
but some people can not get it,and sometime one might resort to be plumb rude,
like some telemarketers,
if they annoy me enough, have some flash sound boards
i will just let them have it if they keep calling, lol

just be honest in a kind and respectful manner.

your life will be much less stressful if you stop being a "yes man/woman"
