just tell her that you are still madly in love with her and would like to carry on sharing the wonderful walk of your life with her.

Try offering to meet up somewhere public, such as a coffeehouse or resteraunt (stay away from a bar). Just relax and break the ice with how-are-you-doing, etc etc. Bring up a "remember when" topic. something you both enjoyed when you were dating. tell her how you felt at that point, then ease into the fact of how you feel now. be honest with her, that is very important. I wouldn't say "i love you let's get married" but maybe say "i've tried the 'being friends' thing for a while now and I still have some feelings for you. would you like to try dating again and see where it goes?" or maybe you can feel out her opinions on dating, if there is anyone in her life at that point, and if not, suggest going to do something together, but try not to use the word "date" if it makes you feel uncomfortable, or you are afraid of scaring her off. and see where things go from there. just be honest and see if you can gauge how she feels. maybe she feels the same, and there isn't any problem!

I don't understand why you can't explain this to her. You have gone out with her for like a year and a half and so why is it hard for you to tell her how you feel now. Maybe she still feels the same way about you and is waiting for you to make the first move.
Life is to short and you might regret it one day. Just call her or meet her and tell her how you feel. You don't know how things may turn out.

you cannot worry with the outcome or how you will be perceived. just be honest and straight with her---tell her how you feel----forget the macho stuff! You need to know what you want --what type of relationship you are willing to open up to and give her---then Tell her so you won't regret the missed opportunity later! Approach the situation as you have in this question---i know its been a while since we've "dated" but i can't seem to get you out of my mind---and i don't want to. Do you think we can make this happen again?-----good luck
