All I want is to be a healthy, happy person but it always seems like when I reach my goal it lasts for a few days and then bad **** always happens. I'm knocked down right now spiritually, emotionally, physically, anad professionally. Most of those closest to me don't care and I don't want to burden the ones the do (which are basically my parents, my dog, and one friend). I keeping asking god, angels, ascended masters, Jesus, basically anyone and everything for help, I'm completely open to it but nothing comes. I'm trying so hard, but sometimes I want to give up. I feel so sick right now. Does anyone else feel this way? It always seems like when I do, no one else does.

During my college years, 1983-1990, and then again in 1991-93, I felt the way you're feeling often. Even after I had become Baha'i and said many prayers, read the Writings of Baha'u'llah, fraternized with Baha'is socially, devotionally, etc., and endeavored to make each "morrow richer than its yesterday," I still would often feel beaten. Today, the situation is different, yet similar. I lost my job with my employer of almost 5 years a couple of Wednesdays ago--completely without warning--they just let me go. Yet now, the hardship will be largely financial instead of emotional. There is a lyric in the song "Against the Wind," something like, "we were running to live and living to run" and "we weren't aware of how much pain we owed"--I'm paraphrasing. Why people should have to "run" or "owe pain", I'm not sure, but I do know that I think many, many people repeatedly see a half-filled glass as half-empty no matter what. Are our lives "real", or, are they just what we perceive that they are? Why I sould perceive my life now, when, in fact, I haven't _really_ changed at all, as being so different, I have no idea of--and yet, there it is--different, yet challenging in still a myriad of ways. A wise woman once said that the best cure for depression, if that's what you are feeling, is a hot bath and good deeds. Take care.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, time out. Take a breath. All is not lost. Life is just that, life. Good stuff and bad stuff all mixed in together. You can't gauge your overall happiness on how well your job is going or how perfect everything else is.
Let me make a suggestion, tell your good friend and your parents that you really appreciate them and that you love them. You just want them to know. Have the same conversation with your dog. He/she knows you're feeling bad. Dogs are amazing that way.
Then dig out your Bible and read St. John 14. Read the whole chapter.
Now have an honest conversation with God (not the ascended masters or the angels). Tell Him you really need some help and you are willing to pay attention to any input He might offer. And then pay attention. If you are serious then God will offer you His help. It won't be a flaming cross on the building next door. It will be His small, still voice. Listen and let Him develop some hope inside of you. Later this week read the first and second chapter of the Book of Acts. That will give you something to think about. Then ask Him again. Talk with Him everyday. Get to know Him. Give it some time.

I have been in your shoes. Been there, know how you feel, any one can give advice, but unless they have been there, they shouldn't. I had a lot of advice thrown at me that didn't help and was better left unsaid. I found that what worked for me was going to my doctor and discussing it with him. He put me on medication, which was great, I felt so much better, and I didn't feel "drugged up". Hobbies are great, they keep your mind busy where you don't think about things so much and dwell on them. Find a great counselor to talk to, maybe you can find out why you feel this way and what started it. Church also helps. You may not feel like going to church or anywhere, but if you find a church that you really like it makes a difference. Hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon. Depression can take a while to get over. I was depressed as a child and adult, but I've been great the past 6 months with no meds. so it's possible to recover and be happy agian. Don't give up. Life is too short as it is.

I've been there. It isn't a great place to be, let me tell you. But the point is, I'm stil here. I would really, really encourage you to find someone who you can talk to--especially a friend or your parents. THey will not be burdened, they care about you. If you don't want to do that, find a professional who you can talk to. I never wanted to burden anyone with my problems only to hit such a low that they all came running. My mother, upon hearing my explanation for not wanting to "burden " her with my problems, said "I'm your mother, we're your family. If you can't turn to your family in a crisis, who do you turn to? That's what families are for--they celebrate the good in your life and they comfort you in the bad." That was some sage advice. I do confide in my family and friends, but I do seek professional help to deal with those feelings so I can handle them. It has helped tremendously. Please consider looking for someone you can talk to. Talking it out really helps. Good luck!

Find someone that you can talk to that you don't feel like you are burdening with your troubles...keep your head up, we all go through rough times. Believe it or not, some times the best listeners are our pets...my dog Amos laid in bed with me for a few months when I was depressed about a miscarriage and a break up that occurred all at the same time...you'll get through your troubles, I assure you of that. Just make sure you have someone to talk to that you trust.

Read this page including last sentence on how diet strongly affects this. This tells how to be much happier with advice from top psychologists and Jesus. Note-- Jesus was not a Christian. You describe that what you are doing is not working. Do something different.

happiness isn't the result of force and struggle. if you open yourself to it, you'll find happiness all around you. as the buddha said, the source of all suffering is desire. if you're looking for happiness by trying to make your life into something it simply isn't meant to be, you will be unhappy. but if you become like water, and let life carry you along its path, you will find happiness and comfort in places you never thought possible.

something that comforted me when i was stressed and unhappy was this wisdom from a friend: live your life as though it has already happened.

THIS IS LIFE. I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT IF YOU CAN LAUGH AT YOURSELF THEN YOU'VE GOT THE WORLD BY THE TAIL. DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY DOES MAKE PEOPLE FEEL VERY SECLUDED AND LONELY, BUT YOURE NOT ALONE. I ALWAYS TRY TO MAKE A JOKE OUT WHATEVER IT IS THAT IM GOING THROUGH, RECENTLY I WAS OVERWHELMED WITH A BUNCH OF CRAP AND I WAS JUST LIKE WELL--NEXT STOP SH*TSVILLE. ITS SILLY BUT ATLEAST I GET TO LAUGH FOR A SECOND. DID I SEE YOU AT SH*TSVILLE, MAYBE IT WAS TOTALLY *UCKED UPVILLE I SAW YOU AT--HMMM. I PREFER BORINGSVILLE MYSELF.
