Doesn't it seem that when you mention even the name 'Jesus' to people, they tend to get a little tense if not offended? Not ALL people but a whole lot of 'em.

"The light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil." (JOHN 3:19)

That is because their father Satan hates Jesus so much that it makes him mad and he reacts through them. Also they really want a relationship with Him, but their father has to tight a grip on them.

Depends on whom you are talking to or who's listening. But if someone is "offended," by His name, at least he/she is listening. Sometimes any response is better than none and being a pacifist with no challenge of thought process. And no education can go on without the person really listening, so keep talking about Jesus, as you'll never probably know how many people you've positively impacted. It takes people who are not afraid to speak what they feel is the truth to help some people. If Jesus isn't for them, nothing has been lost. Keep up your good work and keep His name out there. Too many are afraid of what you are talking about and their peers not accepting them if they mention "Jesus." I bet you have lots of friends, and if you don't, they are the losers!

Yes. This does happen on occasion. But I think it has more to do with the fact that many persons have found themselves the victim of quite a few Christians. Some have been repeatedly condemned for carrying out actions that are often unsparingly termed "sinful". They are judged and criticized for their way of life, and are not at times looked upon with the non-judging compassion Christianity typically speaks of. I guess, as a result, many may harbor bitter feelings of resentment towards anything associated with the religion---particularly Jesus Christ.

I tense up when I hear someone talk about life insurance out of the blue because I expect a high-pressure sales pitch will follow. If I hear "Jesus" out of the blue I've been conditioned to expect high-pressure proselytizing. I'm happy to discuss religion with people, but people doing a sales job never want to listen, just talk and pressure.

Your complaint is sort of like telemarketers complaining that people are rude to them.

I would also be extremely uncomfortable with someone talking positively about Hitler, but talking about history in an intelligent way would be a lot more pleasant to me than being badgered over my religious beliefs.

I feel that many folks feel that way because at one time or another they have been Pined down by a whistle blowing Jesus freak, and it led to a long drawn out invasion of there privacy. What really sucks is when the invading party asks all these religious questions to the side liner, and he expect them to give him an answer, doesn't matter because the invader has all the answers , and his are all correct, leaving the non believer feeling sinful, hell bound and stupid.

I think many people are offended by the name of Jesus because it's not politically correct. If you say "God" then your audience can apply their own meaning. God could mean allah, zeus or their pet. However the name of Jesus is clear who you are speaking of. When you His name, it is clear you mean the One that died for the sins of the world upon a cross. When you speak the name of Jesus, people have a decision to make.

I haven't noticed that. Perhaps you are using the name of Jesus to offend people or make them tense.

Perhaps you should learn to deal with people better and then the words or names you use won't be so offensive.

Nothing like lumping people who don't agree with your religious beliefs into one big label, "World" and dismiss them automatically as evildoers.

I don't think the name "Jesus" is offensive to non-Christians but the preachy attitude that some Christians (of every Christian religion) attach to their use of the name of the Savior.

We would get so much better along as a human species if we stopped trying to convert others to our religious worldview. Let others be happy the way they choose. As for the use of the name Jesus, I wonder if it isn't a bit blasphemous to use it as an excuse for the inexcusable: to condemn and judge others, to belittle non-Christians, to persecute those who don't believe like us, to start wars in the name of whatever religion we believe it's the true one.

Jesus said "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Don't' throw His name in their face. But keep saying it.

I find I get further sharing about my relationship with the Lord than trying to convince them that my way is the right way to think.
If you don't have a personal relationship with the Lord that is in good shape, it will show.

Yikes! No, but when someone tells me that I better give my life over to their lord or my soul will perish in hell, I take offense.

Just because you believe in Jesus, you think it's ok to tell me about it???? The offense comes from the person and their complete total arrogance. I have no beef with Jesus, but his followers need some lessons in manners.

I ditto edsawyer he said it pretty good.
