studies show that most young adults, ages 18-25 are what we all call night owls. they live the party life, stay up late and chat, or play video games all night.... changing your schedule is hard to do, but start going to bed at 8pm, and set two alarms for early early in the am... do this for a week and you will start sleeping at night

Duh, it's insomnia! Your regular Dr. will always shy away from sleep medication. If you are eating right, and getting good exercise, and it's not a behavior problem (in other words, if you sleep in late, then you won't be tired until late...duh again!) ... if you have ruled out all the obvious things, then you might need some help sleeping.

See a psychiatrist. You may be prescribed something for anxiety, or just something that will knock you out. There are many meds that are not physically addictive, although you can become psychologically dependent on just about anything.

Keep in mind, the psych Dr.'s will always try to treat with meds. That's their job, and how they make thier $$$ is if you keep coming back to them (and you will, in order to keep the meds you'll have to get prescription refills).

Hope you get some sleep soon!

There's a lot of answers to this question under my question 'how can i sleep at night?'.

Been an insomniac for near ten years now, last night I slept between half four and half five. When I do sleep I dream I'm lying in bed trying to getto sleep. It really sucks. Never taken pills for the same reason a you. Have a look under my question if you want. Some of it is quite helpful.

Yes. It's probably insomnia. I have the same problem and it's a real bummer. I stay up for hours on end finding all sorts of activities to preoccupy my time and then, when I finally do get some rest, it's time for me to WAKE UP!! *Sigh*

Recently I've been making myself a cup of mint tea to help get me relaxed and more ready for bed. It helps a bit. That, and some soothing music seems to be doing the trick lately. Maybe you could give it a try! We can be tea-drinking buddies, lol :D

Well, it's getting late. I think I'll answer 1 or 2 more questions, put on a soothing CD and drink myself some mint.

Take care and sweet dreams (hopefully) :).

there are non addictive sleep aides out there now(Lunesta is one). theres also alot you can do behaviorally.
never hang out in your bedroom-use it only for sleep, try taking a warm shower at night with some chamomille, try to force yourself to lie dwn the same time every night,if your not asleep within 30 min,get out of bed a walk around for 5-10 min then try again, dont fall asleep to the tv or radio, try reading et. i have trouble with it too. i love the night, theres something so freeing about it.it doesn't belong to the soccor moms and buissness accountants-ya know. but sometimes you gotta sleep, try some of the stuff up there, along with a little nyqil and you'll b snorin' ur a** off in no time;)

Some people are just "night owls". Sometimes it's hard for me to sleep. If you drink a lot of caffeine or have a lot of stress and worries, that will keep you up too.
