I always remember what a policeman once said to me "Son, It's only illegal if you get caught" Therefore pay someone else to give him a good shoeing and be smug when he returns to work!

Officially once you are outside work and no longer under their jurisdiction then whatever you do is nothing to do with them. Unless what you do effects your job (ie: a lorry driver gets banned after having a crash) In your case I don't think you should get sacked for beating up your boss in your own time, but the fact that you would probably be arrested and charged could effect you position and your company (ie. your boss) would probably sack you for having a police record. You can't win! Change jobs - or get somebody else you know and trust to kick his head in for you.

uhh yeah....that leads to a hostile work environment that could easily be transferred on the fun rollercoaster of legal-icity. If you don't like your boss change jobs, people do it all the time and it is not uncommon. But then again other people beat up and/or shoot their bosses too and that is not uncommon....just illegal. And if I am thinking straight here....he has authority over you as a supervisor's posistion. I wouldn't rock the boat quite so bad that it was fillin' up and sinkin'. That makes for a bad sail...ya' know...whehn ya' loose the boat to the sea.
What's even worse is....your boss could press charges against you for Battery and Assualt (especially if you kicked his *** and called him ugly names) which can be a pretty serious case. You could be arrested, you could be NOT released on bail do to your close proximity to your boss at your job, held for a specific amount of time for processing which could make you late for your job. Which by the rules and regulations, falls under the "tardy" clause and is a fireable offense.
And then to top it all off, if you are not fired from the consequences, the boss can file for a restraining order against you since you aggressed against him which could limit your prominital location to your boss (ie. legal jargon about how far you must legally stay away from your boss) It could be listed by a specific number of feet away which might let you slip by the regulations for being at work....but if the boss hires a decent lawyer, the restraining order will be listed as a specific number of feet away from the address the boss is currently at....which in all effectiveness would demand you resign quietly or be transferred to a completely different location.

If you kill him, HE can't sack you. However, get real. You can be sacked from your job, if it can be shown that your behaviour is not appropriate to the post you hold (even in a private capacity). For example you may lose your post as student councellor if you are caught illegally hiring a prostitute.
Best thing is to talk and compromise, failing which just find a new job.

What do you think?? I would suggest you get another job if he is that bad or try some anger management techniques :) or use reverse psychology on him. That would be fun.

Unfortunately he can as it is defined as 'bringing the company into disrepute' However if you can prove he initiated it and you were defending yourself, that's a different matter.
