that Cristobal colon (also known as christopher columbus) spoke spanish. Just answering the question that some ppl were asking, of what was the first language in america: 1st native american,then spanish,then english. Yes Dear But Chris spoke Spanish, Spanish aka(Caustillan) Today's immigrating Mexicans are just speaking a version of Mexican Spanish, it's much more familiar.

And when the Constitution was drafted, a national language was being chosen. There were many choices up for voting, including English, French, Spanish, even Hebrew!

In the end, English just barely beat out German as the National language of the newly formed United States.
