Shingles is the adult form of the chickenpox virus and yes, once you have the infection you can break out again. In addition the serum or liquid inside the blisters is extremely contagious so be careful that you do not spread the virus to other family members. The infectious stage is over when all blisters are dry and crusted over. This virus is also harmful to the fetus of a pregnant woman and can cause the child to be born deaf or blind. Pregnant women should not be around your daughter while she is in the infectious stage.

RE: Are shingles a form of herpes? I heard someplace that shingles (no longer those on your roof) are a form of herpes or something like that. Is that authentic? Cuz I had shingles on my hip at the same time as i became little, about 5 or so, and obviously i became little and had not in any respect had sex.

Mostly it is not recurrent. It is an infection caused by a virus.which attacks the posterior root ganglion and produces skin eruption secondarily along a cranial nerve or spinal nerve. But Herpes Simplex is recurrent.

PLEASE always be alert! My grandfather woke up one morning with his head covered in shingles. It was aweful!!! Most people get them around their waist,, and are very painful!!! Pops leasions never healed. He always had one here or there on his head that were always open which cause him major pain. He had them for the last 10 years of his life. My grandmother also ended up with them on her waist,, and she still has them. Their not as severe as his was and she deals with them, but they come and go on her. As the other person was saying to you,, they can be passed to others and can harm unborn babies. They say they work from your nerve endings, and stress over time is what usually causes them, but since your daughter is so young, I would definitely learn everything there is about Shingles from her doctor and you can get lots of info from the internet. Its not something to play around with. It will most likely reoccur on her, but will be years down the road. Its a uncertain thing!! Educate yourself!! Take care!!

Maybe... It's not the same thing as Chicken Pox which most peeps get only once in their lives. Since she's had CP it's possible that she could get it again. My baby sis got shingles. Our sis said, "Why, you don't want Shingles (our sis lool) to come ?" ha ha ha. Good thing the name didn't stick :P

Yes she can break out again... No it is not the sexually transmitted type.... it actually comes from the chicken pox virus that stays dormant in the spinal column until usually later in life or when a persons immunity is down.
