If your planning on a juice detox as a way to cleanse your body to prepare it for more diet and exercise, then it is a good idea. If your doing a juice detox to lose weight, then it is not. You'll only loose water weight and end up gaining it back imediatly.

If you plan to go forward with it, then do it for no more than 4 to 7 days. Buy some herbal detox teas, and get juice that is 100% and has added nutrients, such as protien and B vitamins. A good brand is callled Naked. Also Trader Joe's market or any natural food store, will carry fruit smoothies and other nutrient rich juices.

As far as the smoking goes, it may complicate things somewhat, as your body and mind may be stressed from lack of food. But if you have the willpower to drink only juice for a week, than maybe you'll be able to stop smoking as we'll.

I've done juice fasting and other types of body cleansing methods on many different occasions, and it isn't necessarily
easy! Good Luck!

It does the body more damage than good. I had an aunt that lost 65 pounds in two months by doing this, then she started eating solid foods again and gained it and more back.

The way to lose weight is to be kind to your body. Realize that you did not gain your weight overnight and you will not take it off overnight.

Plan on a good diet that takes in about 1800 calories a day, this means a good breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner.

Ideas:

Walk more, or light exercise. Increase activity to burn calories.

Drink water, and stop drinking soft drinks.

Do not eat fast foods...or sweets. If you are tempted try eating natural sweet foods like Bing Cherries.

Stop all eating after 7:00 pm.

Eat smaller meals, than larger ones.

Juice Fasting is dangerous and in the long run does nothing.

Honey? Nobody really needs to detox unless it is alcohol or heroin. You can do it if you put your mind to it. I promise. A total juice diet is not healthy. In fact, most juices out on the market are mostly sugar. Please check with your Doctor if you want to do that type of diet.

Sweetie? Some of us are meant to be skinny and puny (like me) and some are meant to be larger. That is the way of life. Try to be happy with the friends and family who love you for who you are. Weight doesn't come into play when it comes to being accepted by those who truly love you.

Now, if you are teetering on being unhealthily overweight, please talk to your doctor about what type of weight reduction program you should try. Juice only isn't enough to keep your tummy from growling at you and quite possibly sending you into a binge on food that you shouldn't be eating. Ask you doctor if you have a thyroid problem and check for diabetes too. Good luck sweetie. I will pray that you find the right answer. ((((Sheri))))

Quitting smoking and dieting are very hard to do at the same time, since both take so much discipline. I would suggest doing them at separate times. As bad as smoking is for you, you might want to try losing the weight first. That way, once you try to quit smoking, if you gain any weight in the process it won't discourage you as much as if you were already heavy to begin with.
