No. Have you ever seen a child in a store going absolutely nuts and their parents aren't able to control it? Those are parents who don't spank their children. Those children have no fear of consequence. It is not child abuse. It has nothing to do with pain. Many parents who don't spank are raising children to think they can do whatever they want.

when a kid does something that puts themselves or someone else in danger, I feel that spanking (more the humiliation of it, instead of pain) is an approriate way to punish extreme behavior. However, spanking, is technically hitting a child, which is a form of abuse. While I know that I would use spanking on my (future) kids responsibliy, and only in VERY extreme situations (like the kid not listening and running into a street, or playing with matches, or running away from me in a busy/crowded place), it's impossible to regulate, and therefore, for the sake of those who would use this form of discipline to abuse the child, yes, spanking should be outlawed, or considered a form of abuse.

Again, it should be outlawed because the line between a swat on the butt or an actual beating is too thin. imagine an abusive parent arguing in court 'it was just a small spanking, the kid was naughty'. If spanking is outlawed, then there would be no question, if the kid was hit, it's against the law, there's no different degrees.

While I was never spanked growing up, and I feel that I've been raised in a very loving and wise manner, I can understand why some parents might believe in a little smack to the bottom or a slap on the wrist.

I really hate to give the government any more power when it comes to these things, because once you give it to them, it's nearly impossible to take back.

I think that if genuine abuse exists, as determined by a concensus, then action should be taken, but I do not like the idea that the government is raising a child by invoking laws.

Love as always,

Sebastian

A good spanking oftentimes taught me the clear line between right and wrong when I was a kid, and as I got older I rarely got into trouble. Some of the bratty kids I see running around could use a good spanking in my opinion. However, I still think it's wrong to BEAT your kids, which is entirely different.

I do not think that spankings should be outlawed because sometimes I think that children need to get spanked for their actions.

I saw a child be dragged across a bunch of rocks because his shoe fell off and his mother dragged him and said " you had to come with" as he screamed and cried. There's a bigger problem than that, people should need a license to be a parent. Everything needs to be looked at as an individual situation ,some children need it, others may be affected from it.

No. I beleave children need to have some sense beaten into them. Too many people spoil their children. I see kids all the time who are yelling and screaming and getting what they want. Society is too kind on children I beleave. If the parents won't do it, hell, I'll oblige. >:(

Please, I hope not!! I don't hit hard but that is a threat that works for our family. It only took about 3 times to spank before she realized that I meant it. Now I get tot mention that spanken and she straightens up.
