i know how that is. the problem is the chlorine stays in your hair even if you've shampooed it. always condition afterwards, even if your a guy, hair always needs conditioning after shampooing to restore moisture and to keep it healthy. what i also used to get rid of the chlorine residue out of my hair is a special product that you mix in with your shampoo that gets the chlorine out. you can find it at a N.W. Beauty Supply store. they also have special shampoos and conditioners that get the chlorine out. also, another way to help preven damage is to get your hair wet first with regular water, making sure it is soaked, before getting into the pool. that way, the regular water prevents the chlorinated water from beng sucked into your hair strands. and always condition. you can never condition enough if you put your hair through stress.

One thing to do before you go into the pool is get your hair completely saturated in the shower - as your hair will already be saturated with non-clorinated water and less likely to absorb as much of the clorinated water.

When you come out of the pool, take a shower and use a good protein shampoo (Pantene is an excellent one, but we use Suave and it does ok) also use a conditioner (we use Garnier Fructis). If you hate dragging all that stuff with you or can't stand in a public shower, at least rinse out your hair (while in your swimtrunks) then use shampoo and conditioner when you get home.

The best protection, which I tried and hated, is one of those dorky looking rubber swimming caps.

Rinse your hair properly and immediately when you are done swimming. Use a strong shower so the chlorine does not stay on your hair. Use a conditioner along with shampoo.

Use a deep conditioning treatment that you can get from a beauty shop or beauty supply store - or - Buy a hot oil treatment from the drug store - or crack three eggs, mix well in a dish, put your head in the bathroom sink, and let eggs blend into your hair and try not to let the mixture drain away. Rub it in good, and this will make your hair shiny as well. Don't laugh, it works!
