The blood is collected in recepticals and delivered to a lab which breaks down the hemoglobin and purifies it. The product is then sent to a plant that manufactures a product called Polyheme which is a synthetic blood substitute. This product can be used by hospitals in place of blood when blood supplies are low.

My in-laws own a funeral home, there the blood just goes down the drain into the sewer system nothing exciting about it.

I asked some of my friends.. this is what they said
it is sealed and either cremated or picked up by a special Disposal unit That specializes in the disposal of bodily fluids..

I think it's probably incinerated in the cremation chamber. Too many diseases and germs to keep it.
