God does not rely on blind faith. He would love for us to accept him scientifically (research on meditation does prove that meditating increases our awareness to things we previously would not have sensed). Most of us do not make an effort to consciously be aware of the presence of God within us. This is the whole point of religion.
Abstracts cannot be described. They need to be experienced personally.
Since you are agnostic, I suggest you research Eastern philosophy. Yogic techniques such as pranayama (breath control) and meditation are scientific exercises that have a positive effect on the physiology of the human body allowing for increased cognizance and altered states of awareness. We can then realize what the prophets of world religions actually meant.

God does not rely on blind faith. The Bible definition of faith is found in Hebrews 11:1 "Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for though not beheld"
Faith is based on fact. The Bible is a book of facts that show why we are here, and where this earth is going. Gods dealings with mankind as recorded in the Bible gives us confidence for the future.
Any one that follows blindly has no real faith.
I worship what I know and understand not an abstact idea

.Mike,
First of all,
The Higher Power, the Sufis call it Existence, is vast and infinite and doesn't need a thing, from anything or you. What do you think you have that you could give it? He doesn't rely on blind faith. He gave you free-will and the choice to choose.
Life, or Death, which do you choose?
You want death? Great, go for it. Many paths to choose from.
You want life, the paths are fewer, and restrictions apply.
It's called submission. To the rules of the Path to God.
If you do, you will have understanding, and Unity with the Beloved.
For it is like a love affair. It is based on love.
Therefor, your choice.
God doesn't need you to believe in Him, but oh, what are you missing?

I'm gonna ask you a crazy question... assuming you're sitting in a chair at your computer desk... why did you sit in it? How did you know it would hold you??? Because you sat in it before, right??? Oddly enough... any number of of things could have happened to make that chair unable to support you... but you sat anyway... you had faith that it would hold you.
God does not ask us to rely on BLIND Faith. On the contrary, He asks us to have faith based on His Story.... History. He wants you to rely on the fact that you have countless examples of how he has taken care of you in the past and use that as your tool to assure yourself he will take care of you in the future. He wants you to use the experiences of other people and how he has brought them through to reassure yourself that he can bring you through.
Faith is not inherent. Faith is learned. Faith is based on experience... what you learn from your experiences and what you learn from the experiences of others.
Keep in mind that you don't need Great Big faith. Jesus described the kind of faith you need... saying it is about the size of a grain of mustard seed (pretty tiny especially when you compare it to the resulting plant). Faith grows with experience. You have to start somewhere... Use what little faith you have and watch God meet you where you are.

Because he has given us free will... the ability to think and reason... and threatened us with death if we don't. This way, he can tell who is truly faithful and who is beligerent. :-)
Honestly, if you are questioning your faith, that's a good thing. Ask the questions and consider the answers from all people, then choose your own way, regardless of what others may tell you. Trust your heart and soul. Mine has told me that it's all a bunch of hooey, starting with so-called Christians being so intolerant and hateful and ending with the fact that God is a very mean being to those he claims to love.
That led me to agnosticism... and true happiness in the end.

Faith is part of free will because we are not His automatons.
If everyone had faith, then it truly couldn't be defined as faith and would be something far less meaningful that wouldn't get you through the hard times-- like cancer.
God and people require substantive connections and motivation, not traits.
God given traits are generally something people come to accept about themselves, but many people have the need to reach beyond God given traits to be charitable, to be giving to others and to push themselves beyond the traits that are known to them find what their true limits and capabilities are.

I think God, to a certain extent, does bestow faith as a trait. I mean to be able to have faith and follow blindly takes a certain amount of understanding, and I think that something inate in humans allows use to do this. I just think that those who don't/can't have faith like that isn't because they aren't capable, they just aren't willing to understand and willing to take the risk.

Which side of God are you talking about here? There are many belief systems and just as many ways of seeing God, don't just rely on one source, not all believe in blind faith. Try Buddhism, Zen and Taoism or Hinduism, keep searching, I bet you will find the answer to this question.

God gives us faith when we are created. Like a muscle in your physical body, faith must be exercised to grow.
