We are both 33, have been married before, and have children from previous marriage. He is an immigrant from Mexico and I met him at a local resteraunt where he works. He says that he doesnt understand why I like him because Americans hate Mexicans. His English is poor as are my Spanish skills, but when we are together I feel as if I have known him forever. I work as a nurse and make good money and sometimes I feel that my financial stability may bother him. I feel like I found my soul mate but my gut tells me he is a player.

me, being a Mexican who has 3 brothers can tell you that it is uncomfortable if somebody from another race asks them out. Since you are a white stable woman, it makes him feel insecure and makes him feel inferior because he feels he cant even be compared to you. Mexican men are traditionalists, and like to b on top of things(like every normal man) but you seem to kind of test hes value. He has this preconceived notion that white people or in particular white women are not worth dating because it will come back and bite him in the a$$. If you really think he is the one, then you have to show him that your intentions are true and you dont hate Mexicans. He feels insecure about things, and i know because my brothers had trouble dating white women because of all the racism that they went through growing up with white people(they were all waiters in a upper class restaurant). But give him the benefit of the doubt, try getting rid of his stereotypes, but if he doesn't change then it wont work out. Love is work. you have to work hard to earn it.

what's wrong with mexican guy? is this a religous thing? by American guy, do you mean white American? Do you want to marry for love? if so, be with this mexican guy, what's the chance of finding someone whos faithful and treat you well? i just don't understand why your family are so against it. well, you are going to spend the rest of your life with your other half, not your family, so you have to make the right choice (in this case the mexican guy). live a happy life, show your family how happy you will be after marrying him, i'm sure your family will one day understand and be happy for you.

I'm Mexican-American, first generation born Stateside. We are known for our "Machismoism". Basically, it's men are supposed to be better than women in almost everything (except house cleaning and child rearing). Most guys that aren't born in the states and aren't exposed to the more, say, equal level of women in society get culture shock. What he's talking about is likely all the political stuff going on in general. Whatever you do, just remember that Machismoism is a tough thing to break....
To the person above mentioning the green card and player stuff... you sound really ignorant. 99% of all immigrants (legal or illegal) know that you can no longer get citizenship easily that way anymore

Oh my gosh!! you sound JUST like me, except I'm 19..but yah! I'm in the SAME situation, except I work with the guy at a sports bar. We don't speak the same language..yet we both speak a little bit of the others language..and we have an INSANE connection..everyone has told me to try to pursue it, so go with how you feel, and don't worry about what other people say. Good luck and God bless!! :D

Why don't you play it safe and go out with him, but nothing serious. Get to know him, there are always exceptions. If he's the one, you don't want to lose him. But it is a risk you must take for true love. Just be on your guard cause you don't want to get hurt either.

Put it this way if your gut tells you he is a player than go by your gut feeling. Do you know if he is married? most of the time they are just looking for sex. You need the get to know this man first. Just remember one thing you have children, and you do not know this man. If he is 33 you can bet he is married or has a girl, but you have to find that out for yourself. Just keep in mind that you had that gut feeling, and most of this time your gut is right. This is your life you have to do what you think, not what someone tells you to do. Wish you good luck, but watch your step.

Um sorry if I offend anyone but i agree with your guts or heart or whatever. He probably IS a player because that's what Mexican immigrants are. He IS going to get bothered by your financial stability and do you REALLY want to marry a person who can't handle himself financially or physically or whatever? He is going to expect you to LIKE his culture, traditions and all that. Americans and Mexicans are VERY different. Different customs, different everything.
But since I don't know this guy, i cant say anything
but if i were you, i wouldn't really get involved in a relationship with a Mexican financially UNstable person. sorry if it didnt help much but GOOD LUCK!
= )
