I was heart broken to find out the amazing high percentage of people who are in the last years of their life and in convalescent homes and abused. Some of them raped, money taken, not well fed or clothed, it has to stop as during their youth years they gave us everything they had now why all it's beign taken away?

I think that people should start taking care of their parents when they reach a stage where they need the help. What happened to family taking care of each other?

I worry abt my Mom. She is in a home 2500 miles away. I talk to her nurse on a regular basis but she keeps getting UTI's and I believe they do not moniter her fluid intake. I am beside myself trying to figure out what to do. I have no money to go see her or to help her. I would only hope and Pray to God that if anyone found that she is being abused or neglected that they would report it to the police.
You could volunteer in a nursing home one day a week to try to at least give a few of these people some happiness in the end of their lives.
It may not seem like much but the impact will be bigger than you can imagine.

Because people don't care what happened before our time. They don't give it a second thought. All they think about is what can they do to get whatever it is they want. For example money: they say there old, what can they do, so they target them. To those kind

Sadly, right now there is nothing we can do, so, all we can do is hope that someone will put an end to this.

But, right now I think its really cool that you are thinking about this. God Bless.

The system of family taking care of old people should prevail. Laws must be amended for children to take care of parents at their old age. Governments should shut down old-age homes, but only provide financial help with serious checks!!!!

Report the facility to whomever owns it or the person taking care of the elderly person to Adult Protective Services and contact a lawyer.

If you actually know these reports are true, better report them to social services! Or better yet - to the police or the local government financing these institutions. I agree with you that elderly people should be treated with more compassion and tender loving care.

bring our parents to our home, and if you cant handle that then next door so you can keep a eye on them. there are part time nurses that will come to thier home and make sure all is well.
