Well it depends. If you want a loyal, cute friendly animal, go for the dog. If you want a animal that does its own thing and is kinda loyal and sometimes hangs around you, then go for a cat.

But i would say a dog. the reason why is cats always run off and dont come back for a long time and most likely to get killed because of their exploring. Now they are cut and funny but they like to do there own thing.

I would get a little dog that dosnt shed to much and is loyal. Like a pom-pom. I have one and she is so loving and nice. Dogs are good pets. Better than cats (to me) and cats will mess up your stuff.

Be wise! And maybe you should ask around before you buy one and make sure its had its shots and papers. Good luck!

Well over all both are great companions, however dogs can be quite a handful and require more attention than cats. For example they need to go for walks, they can be very hyper, they drool, they jump on people, they poo all over the house, some bark really loud, some can be dangerous, and they smell pretty bad. But most of these depend on size and breed. Beagles and Labradors are good choices. And puppies of all kinds are really cute.

On the other hand cats are cute and much more low maintenance. All they need is food, a litter box, the occasional medicine/ shots, maybe a scratching post, and love. The only downside is they can shed depending on the length of their fur, and some will scratch/ bite you, or scratch the hell out of your furniture, but they usually get over that within a few years. Anyway good luck and i hope you make a good choice :)

I think if you are active and like to spend time outdoors, and if you will be able to take walks and play with your pooch, a dog is great. If you don't have a lot of time to spend with your pet, cats are better.

A few thoughts:

Cats are happy to be left alone much of the time. Most cats like to play, but only for a few minutes at a time. Dogs will take your attention whenever they can get it.

Dogs have to be let out to go potty, or you need a doggy door. They need room to run around too. Cats should be kept indoors all the time. They need a litter box somewhere out of the way like a laundry room. Cats can be left home alone if you go away for a couple of days, but dogs need a sitter or boarding.

Dogs need to be given a bath, cats do not.

If you get a cat, I suggest getting two. My two cats are best friends. They play together and groom each other. When I had only one cat she layed around a lot more. She is much more active now that she has a playmate, and the two of them are fun to watch.

Hope I helped!

Dogs are great if you want to have an active pet. You must take them for a walk twice a day, so you get your exercise too. And they are more actively playful than a cat. BUT, if you want a pet that will be cuddley and restful, get a cat. Cats can also be actively playful, but in a different way, and not as aggressively as a dog. My personal preference is CAT, but that's just me.

Well, it depends on what you want in a pet. For instance, do you want a pet that is independant? Cats are more independant as far as using a litter box, where as dogs need to be taken out or let out to relieve themselves, and to be walked. Cats and dogs are cuddly. Dogs want to be petted and played with all f the time, however cats are a little different. They want attention on their time and on their terms, and dogs will settle for attention whenever you wish to give it to them. I hope this helps you to make a good decision on choosing a pet, and please, by all means, it's very important that you know ahead of time if you can afford the pet or not. Vet bills are expensive and I don't wnt to see any pet being unintentionally neglected. Believe it or now, it happens everyday. Good luck in your search for the perfect pet.

It depends on what you like! Cats, though they like you, are kind of independent. They entertain themselves. Dogs are pack animals and so the social factor is more important to them. They require more training to be good house pets, they need to be housebroken. Cats learn this from their mothers before they are weaned. Dogs want to follow you and please you, whereas cats don't think in those terms. They will keep your house free of rodents even if they don't really hunt; at least they will chase any rodent that comes in. Most dogs don't care. Dogs will let you know if anybody (friend or foe) comes to the house. Cats won't. Dogs also need obedience training, which seems irrelevant with cats. You can take your dog to the park, but not your cat. Cats don't like leishes and aren't reliable at "come when called."

You can't leave a dog in the house for a day or two by himself. He will eat all his food, drink most of the water before you are out of the driveway.........and when you come home there will be puddles and clumps all over. and if it is pouring rain,,,blowing freezing snow, or super hot out, he will want to go out to use the great outdoors as a bathroom. He will pee on your tires, and leave a deposit on your lawn, or your neighbors..and if you have leash law you will have to be right out there with him day or night in ANY weather.......and of course there is the barking.... BUT a cat is independent. Will space out eating and drinking....you can go away and he will have used the litter box to potty....If it is hot, raining, or freezing out side he will sit in the window and look outside, knowing how lucky he is that he in not out there.......of course you will have a litter box to deal with, but some places require that you clean up after you dog, so you are walking around with a baggie of poop on you..........a cat will also greet you at the door and meow and maybe rub your leg...a dog will maybe jump all over you and in excitement dribble some pee on the floor......I have had both..........and I would rather have a cat!

personally i have always thought that dogs are the better pet mostly because they protect you and are always there. But I guess its more a personal prefrence. Oh and if you dont like getting hair all over your house then try a bird or something cause cats and dogs shed like crazy!!!

Cats love to scratch sofas and wooden furniture. It's difficult to train them to use a stratching post. Dogs meanwhile, go for walks daily, so while they exercise, their toenails would be naturally filed down.
Dogs guard houses against burglars, while cats guard the pantry against mice. Dog are more faithful while cats are not. Dogs are a choice more worthy of cats, in short.

I dont mind either one. Just as long as i have one if not both.
Currently I have both.

Cats are smart animals.
They can be trained to do stuff, such as go potty in the toilet and to flush it.
Some like to go outside during the day.
Sometimes my cat will even go for a walk with me.
They dont shed as much as dogs and many have better personalities than dogs.
They are more relaxed that dogs and when you want them most will come to you when you call their name.
