Nose piercings close extremely quick because the inside of your nose is a mucus membrane.
So yes, in most cases, its true, it will close up fairly quickly. If you change your jewlery often roughly and cause a scar tissue build up sometimes it will not close up. But this happens over time, and it depends on the person, don't rely on this.

You can buy clear nose retainers, but the truth is, you can still see that you have a nose piercing. Here are some pictures of random people with nose retainers from the bme website

This is another style of nose retainer that is pointless because it is very noticeable.

Keep in mind that ears, and nose are different type of the body and kist because your ears done close up, it dosent mean that your nose will not. Not only is your nose cartlage, you are also dealing with the mucus membrane issue. Both of these factors lead to a quicker healing of your fistula. ( skin tube where the kewlery sits). Keep in mind that the inside of your nose is always cleaning itself, and thats why it heals so quick.

My nose has been pierced for three years now and the hole seems pretty permanent at this point. If I remove the pin, the hole remains for days. It's the inside of the piercing that closes up but you can still see the hole from the outside because it's stretched. You can buy a clear pin to hide the piercing for your job. Or you can be like me and say screw it to the possible employer. These days piercings and tattoos are so mainstream that employers should not care as much about your piercing. And I would totally tell them it's a religion thing if they ask. How would they know? And they can't discriminate on the basis of race, religion, or creed.
But let me give you one piece of advice: piercings belong on those who are willing to break the rules of life and you seem to only want it as a temporary fashion fix. I would never consider taking mine out, even for my wedding next month. It's part of me and my image and I'm over 30.

It depends on the person. Some people's hole will close over when they don't wear jewlery for a while, others wont. If it's for a job, you should only need to remove the piece of jewlery during work and put it back in after work.

I've had pierced ears for some time now, there has been times that I haven't worn earrings for a period of four months and the hole's did not close over.

My friend had her nose pierced and she took it out after a few years, it closed up but she still has the indent on the outside of her nose where it was.

No its not true....I got my nose pierced when I was 16.....It has not closed since....I am 29

I dont wear it for the same reasons you fear....Jobs...people taking you serious....But there will always be something there...How that something will look depends on your skin tone and texture....But mine just looks like a little Beauty mark...nothing big..

I sometimes put a small one in when I'm trying to be cute tho LOL
