Actually only around nine to twelve weeks. You can also judge by the number of male cats surrounding your house all day long, looking for your young virgin female cat; however, by that time it is usually too late to do much about the problem. If you wait much longer you may have some more kitties to contend with where you may be asking the same question once again.
Just be sure you know exactly how old your cat is when you bring her into the vet for her spaying. If she isn't old enough, your vet won't do the operation anyway.
If I happen to be off on this age of your cat, you can always check it out with a simple phone call to the vet of your choice. The person who answers the call will know the correct answer for sure. Oh well, or so it seems to me.

Right around 6 months is the best time to fix a cat.

It used to be that you couldn't have a cat spayed or newtered until they were at least six months old. Now they re saying you can have it done as early as six weeks old, but I personally wouldn't recommend putting them through that in such an early stage of their life. I would wait a while. Anesthesia is risky under the best of circumstances, I wouldn't subject a baby kitten to that just yet for that reason alone. I hope this helps.

Well all my cats, (3 boys) were fixed before they were 10 months. I had to do it with 3 males they were all trying to claim a bit of the house and that is just gross.

2 pounds is the weight where it's safe for a cat to go under anesthesia. However, I got my guys altered at 4 months.

Some people would answer, as young as 6 weeks
But I would recommend waiting until the kitten is at least 12 weeks old.
Good luck!
