Which for a 16 year old thats only going to drive 4-10 miles a day, A Porsche Cayman, or a Lotus Elise?
Either a
PORSCHE CAYMAN
Manual trans, Teracotta(red) interior, black exterior, no extras just basics
or a
Lotus Elise
Manual trans, orange exterior, black interior, all basics

PS. also take into consideration - speed, handles, peformace, styling, eye catch looks or head turning effect, comfort, least theft, realibility(Will start in 5:00 am or not), insurance, gas consumption, which is best for moderate road trips, trunk space, and the one I can bring to college with me, and best to last the longest, SAFETY, & bRaNd NaMe

PS I live in California this might help to make the decision and i need to park it infront of an elementary school and then need to take an hour bus ride to HS and then 7 hours later come back to take the car home.

A 16 year old doesn't have the driving experience to be driving either of those cars!!! Let him drive a nice 4 cylinder until he masters the art of turning corners, taking curves, and other important driving skills before you go getting him a sports car! What's wrong with a Toyota, a Lexus or an Infinity? Even a V6 is better. Do you know the statistics of young drivers and speed and the crashes that result from inexperienced drivers in cars that are too much for them to handle? Let him drive something less powerful for 2-3 years, and then when he's proven that he can drive responsibly, then you offer the Lotus of course. ;)

Neither. A 16 year old is going to crash the car or damage it. Get something less valuable. And insurance costs alone of putting a 16 year old in a high end sports car is ridiculous. If you are concerned about gas prices, go with a hybrid. There are several affordable ones on the market, and will definitely be better suited for a teenager than a porsche or a lotus. Those cars are probably worth more than my parent's yearly income! Go with something more affordable.

god i hate you....... dont buy either buy a corolla and be done with it. a Porsche anything is too much car for a 16 year old. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT AN ELISE their is no way a 16 year old could apreciate that cars performance or let alone use it. The elise is a track car you can drive on the street period

go German. I like the old Lotus better. I'd think the Elise would be more difficult to drive. And insurance is through the roof.

toyota

better MPG

you attract less attention

and you dont have to worry about scratching it up

because you can get like 20 of them for the same amount of money

with a car like a porsche or a lotus you get... 1 :P

You should probably go with the porsche, because if youre worried about theft the porsche is not as striking / headturning and that makes it a little better, but it is also better quality than a lotus.

This question makes me sick. Who is buying this car for a 16 year old kid? The question should sound like:

"1989 Chevy Celebrity or a 1993 Ford Escort"

a 16 year old shouldn't have anything TOO flashy, but it should be reliable. I wouldn't buy anything too pricy especially if its being drivin to school.. you never know what other kids could do to it. Besides, your first car should be nothing special anyway..

How about a car that they buy with money they earn themselves?
They'll respect it more, get in less accident's (either caused by themselves or their boyfriend who promised to be really carefull)
And your insurance will be lower, it's a win win situation

Lotus Elise. I drove one in Newport Beach, CA and they are fun. Not near the power I have with my Viper though.

Enjoy and have fun!!!
