This site is the one I have used when wondering what new recipes to make when my grandchildren are visiting. (I have many cookbooks but it never hurts to find new easy recipes). There are some great recipes for picky eaters too.

Kids love making cookies. I know I did as a child. It's a great way to introduce kids to cooking especially if you make it educational, explaining to them what each ingredient does. But I don't think there's any recipe that is more or less kid friendly, as an adult should always be there to make sure something doesn't catch on fire.

When I was a kid, I usually helped in the kitchen every night, grating cheese or peeling potatoes, but as time went by, I got more and more involved as my confidence and curiosity grew.

Try just having the kids in the kitchen with you while you cook, and give each of them a safe job to do while you handle the complicated stuff, like mixing the cake batter as you measure the ingredients, or greasing pans. If they have an affinity for cooking, they will want to become more involved. Before you know it, they will be wanting to cook dinner and all you'll have to do is supervise. It also gives them great experiences to build on when they are adults and have to fend for themselves in the kitchen.

Good luck and be patient, dinners will be ruined, but the lessons learned will prove invaluable.

** Friends, I doubled the recipe and it is awesome..but l did NOT double
the red pepper nor the sun dried tomatoes, the girls do not like them. Don
and I love them. Also you need to go to a store (ak.. Kroger or something)
get baguette bread put it through the slicer and put butter or olive oil on
it and garlic powder and make miniature garlic breads for the sauce. The
sauce is really nice, not a thick sauce...

the chicken. Layer the grated Cracker Barrel cheddar
cheese.
Bake uncovered for 1/2 hr. at 350 degrees

¾ cup milk
2/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
2 tsp. dried minced onion or Lipton onion soup mix
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. rubbed sage
1½ lbs. ground beef
¼ cup ketchup
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
½ tsp. ground mustard
½ tsp. Worcestershire sauce

In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well (mixture will be moist). Shape into a round loaf: place in a 5-qt. Slow cooker. Cover and cook over low for 5 – 6 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 160°.

In a small bowl, whisk the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Spoon over the meatloaf. Cook 15 minutes longer or until heated through. Let stand for 10 – 15 minutes before cutting.

(If the sauce is too spicy for your kids, give them ketchup with their meatloaf.)

We make Mini Pizzas by stretching out refridgerated biscuit dough. Spoon your favorite pizza sauce on, sprinkle cheese and any other toppings you like. Cook them according to the directions on the dough package. Kids love them and they are fast.
