I meet so many close minded people, and yet I bet they would not see themselves as such, I hope that I am not like that.

Yes, I do. That is one thing that I love about myself. I can look at a situation in 10 different ways and come up with some real reasons as to why something is the way it is.

There is a reason why someone is a prostitute or why someone is on drugs, etc. I don't believe people just wake up and decide to do things like that.

These people have had to endure something terrible or was misguided somewhere in their lives or grew up in an environment where anything goes and there was lack of respect and this it what it has led them to do.

Some people grow up in these same situations and come out of it just fine but everybody is not the same and everybody don't get it like some others do.

Becareful, before you cut someone down because of what they do or who they are, you don't know what that particular person has been through or what someone has told them (negative) all their life and they believe this all they can do.

Let's don't confuse being open minded with actually being "confused"! Some people are confused and that is not "open minded".

YES, I am open minded and I like open minded people.

I am open-minded about things like race, religion, etc. I don't think that any one group is better/worse than the rest, because there's good & bad people in any group.

Other things, I am more close-minded on. For instance, I think historic places should be saved, not torn down for a drug store. If necessary, either the historic building could be moved to a new spot...or the drug store builders can choose a new location. But I won't budge on my opinion that a historic place should be saved in some way. It's the specific issues like that, where I tend to be close-minded.

I am open minded to a point, if someone presents a logical sounding idea that I have never heard of before, I will give it thought, sift it through the old noggen if it's worth the time, but when people try and tell me things that are not logical/commonsensed or I have already heard and debunked the idea before, I have a hard time listening to it, especially when it comes from the mouth of someone I know. I mean if you have already come to the conclusion that the world is round and you know deep down without seeing it, that its true, and someone wants to argue that it's still flat, should I be open to listen to that argument?

I like to believe that I am open minded however I have very strong opinions and I may ask a lot of questions about something and the person may think I'm close minded because I am trying to understand their point of view. I like to debate opinions as well.

I consider myself VERY open minded and I've asked myself this very same question. I run into a lot of people who SAY they're open minded..lol, until they meet ME. I'm a female to male transsexual who was once living the "lesbian" lifestyle I suppose, and I still DO date women, and I'm also an athiest. If you're gonna be all THAT, you kinda GOTTA be open minded right? otherwise you'd be a hypocrite. But I get a lot of people who tell me they're open minded so I ask, "so would you date someone like me?" and it's AMAZING how quickly they get a very close minded opinion.

I view myself as open-minded, so do the people I know. I would hate to be perceived as intolerant when I really am not.

Oh well, can't decide for others. At least I know I accept myself and most people of this world.

Funny how the one thing I cannot be open-minded to is close-mindness.

I think I'm open-minded. I feel strongly about my beliefs, and am not easily swayed. But I can back up my positions with facts and logic, so I don't think that makes me close-minded.

I also have a "live and let live" attitude, which I guess would be the definition of an open mind. If other people's actions don't hurt or affect me, then they don't bother me. You can sleep with who you want, as long as it's consensual. You can be anything you want. It's all good, baby.

I consider myself very open minded. I listen to everyones opinions and I believe everyone is different. To be closed minded is stupid. How will you learn anything new being so close minded. Now I believe in having an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out..:)

When I was younger I was broad minded and had a narrow waist. Now that I am older, the opposite is true.
I worry that I am closed minded even though I am very liberal and have faith in the value of an empirical epistemology.

I try very hard to be open-minded, and part of that for me is understanding why others are not. I don't necessarily condone their views and opinions, but I try to understand them. Also, I believe everybody is closed minded about something. Nobody is open to everything, thats just not human nature.
