High school is utterly and completely different than school before it - Be ready for the unexpected and be ready to learn the new ways things are done.
I don't know anything about a pool you speak of - Freshman beat up day - there isn't, but it depends on where you go to school. In New York City, there are different 'customs' as in the midwest.
But there is no official freshman beat up day. You make friends with people like this - don't try too hard, or you'll end up sorry. Don't attract too much attention, but don't be a mouse, hiding from the light, either. Try to seek out ppl like yourself (usually freshmen make friends with other freshmen) - if you are going through similar things as they are, itll make it easier to relate to them and make friends. As for keeping your grades good - take school SERIOUSLY. Avoiding drugs takes strength of will to avoid fitting into that crowd. There will always ppl who will think you are cool for reasons besides doign drugs, maybe even because you don't do drugs. Stay away from people who don't like you but don't make it obvious you are running from them. Comebacks will just make you enemies. Be humbly above their teaasing, rather than meeting them on their level. Seriously, that is really good advice.
Surviving high school is a large thing that is best done by doing the little things that it is composed of. It gets easier, I promise - a better question may be 'how do I survive being a freshman in high school'. After the first year, you are established in whatever niche you carved out for yourself, purposely or not, so be careful, but don't let others dictate your course of action.
Recognize certain things when you go into school the first day. At first, be, primarily, observant and say little to strangers. Watching to see the relationships people have is important. You will be able to identify the upper classmen, how they think freshmen should act around them and you will be able to see other freshmen (scoping out possible friends).
What will happen is that over the course of the year, people, of all class-years, will congregate into social groups of 'cliques'. This is why when a student tranfers into a school mid-year it is so much harder for them to make friends, because they have to make friends with a whole clique in order to join it, typically.
Don't worry about gathering whole group of people to be your friends, make the freinds of people you'd like to be your friends, and the rest will happen as a natural sociological process.
Good luck.

Ah a fish! Well first of all, take a deep breath. I loved my freshman year (favorite so far) The upper classmen are going to give you a hard time though. I went through it and so does everyone. Most of them are just joshin around though, I do it too. Its what comes with the territory. Just try to stay clear of those who arent always joking around. Youll see its usually more bark than bite though. It depends on the school when it comes to having a pool (a lot of public schools do though) Same thing applies to the grades, the school and teachers. Just dont be lazy. Soph. is more easy so work hard freshman year. Just do the work, study hard, and do your best; thats all anyone is asking and if you do it then you will be fine. When it comes to drugs Just Say NO! I know peer pressure can be hard but believe me its not worth it. Find a good group of friends you can trust and who will support and even stand with you on the issue. It may seem like nothing but the second you start it turns into a HUGE issue that will prob. bite you back. And there will always be some people who dont like you, there always is. Thats ok. Just be yourself, be nice, be respectful and your fine. Usually you can think of your own comebacks once you have heard the insult. Try being nice to the teachers. If you are they will prob. give you the benefit of the doubt and give you more privileges. Each teacher is different so know what they expect from you. Stay cool and keep your confidence. Before you know it the year will be over, so make the best of things. Enjoy HS!

Do not worry so much. It is only four years. Drugs: avoid the people who use them you should be more concerned with alcohol and cigarettes. Kids your age die so often in drunk driving accidents and cigs are soooo addictive and unpopular(I should know been a smoker for almost 20 years and I am only 30) Just avoid people who do not like you, and stick with a small group of close friends. You will make friends naturally. Do not join the band or ROTC or any other silly groups like that. Play a sport if you can. Pay attention in class; even if your not a good note taker. Doing your homework (including the reading) every night as soon as you get home, then do what you want the rest of the evening. Start projects early. Do not get a job unless you absolutely have to.

Wow, I don't think there is enough room to answer all these questions. There is no pool, elevator pass, freshman beat up day, trust me I was a freshman once. I just acted as myself and didn't do anything I thought was wrong or I didn't feel like doing. Hang around people you like, and don't talk behind peoples' backs, that way you avoid drama. I remember this one time when someone asked me if I was a little black (I am half mexican), anyways, I said, "Are you a little stupid?" Then everyone started laughing at the jerk. It is not as bad as it seems. You'll be fine, just find people you can lean on. Good luck!

High school is no big deal there is no pool and there is no beat up freshman day. There are hardly ever senior pranks and you wont walk into the school with a giant im a freshman sign on you. Just make friends the same way you always do. talk to the people around.. i always used to ask people for a paper or pen and then when i gave it back to them i would ask wat school they went to and wat classes they are taking to see if u have any together. Just be you people will like that. You will see theh popular kids and the pretty girls just find a group of close fun friends that are into doing the right things and that you can have fun with and youll have a blast. accept people and be true dont be a phony just cuz your trying to fit in. I loved high school and i had 4 really close friends and i had a blast. BHS CLASS OF 06!!!

The freshman beat down day never happened in my high school. There was a rumor that to go across a walkway bridge, seniors made the freshman pay a toll...never happened. You really have no worries, as long as you can just go with it and let things fall into place. You will find friends, just be open minded, don't be judgemental, and when people are with you, and they will be, just brush it off and know that you know who you are and be proud. The grades, don't skip classes (often...lol), make sure you know what's goin on in class, and something that always helped me...sleep through part of your class. things tend to soak in then, lol jk. You can avoid drugs, if you don't want to do something, don't do it, be strong, be yourself.

Most high schools have pools. No, there isn't a beat up day. You make friends in classes and at lunch. Just ask where they went to junior high, what classes they have, things like that. Keep grades up by doing homework every night, taking notes in class, getting help when you don't understand (they have tutors and teachers can help too). You avoid drugs easily, don't do them. If someone doesn't like you, too bad for them, ignore them. You survive by not worrying, doing your best, getting involved (sports, clubs, etc.) and enjoy it, believe me it goes very fast. Oh, and treat girls well and you will have many hanging around.

Yes, our school has a pool.
No, there is not a freshman beat up day or any other form of hazing.
You make friends by being yourself.
Study hard, pay attention in class, and don't skip school if you want your grades to stay good.
Just say no to drugs...94% of high school kids in America are drug free.
Just ignore and avoid people that don't like you.
Have fun. High school can be one of the greatest phases in your life. Enjoy every minute of it.
