higher pay, higher responsibilities. Officers in any branch are managers, enlisted folks are the worker bees who actually make things happen. If you like working with your hands on the equipment, go enlisted. if you like lots and lots and lots of paperwork, reports, evals and like to consider the Big Picture.. be an Officer.
While many enlisted personnel do have degrees, it is not a requirement. it IS one, however, to be an Officer.

although being an officer has much more respsonsibilities, it comes with much more pay then being enlisted, however, most officer programs require that you at least have an accociates degree to apply. speaking from expierence and jealousy, go officer or nothing at all. especially if your going to be in any branch with ships, enlisted quarters are very small, officers reall y have it made. an ensign technically outranks even a masterchief, so you do get a lot more respect. now if you go enlisted on the other hand, just be prepared to work hard, you'll earn your keep and more - for a lot less pay.

I don't know about CG commissioning programs either. I think they get most of their officers from the CG acad, don't they? Not sure, you'll need to check on that. Some jobs are only open to one or the other. Pilots for instance are officers, small boat crews are enlisted. Depends on what you want to do.

Same as any military branch. You lead, they follow. You get better housing & more pay. They get saluted & they salute, except in war zone - no saluting since enemy could see & know the Officers.
