I have spoken with many catholics and been to many cathloic services. Catholics usually try to convince me to join their church, although I am an evangelical. I am curious why it is that catholics think they are going to have a higher place in heaven than i am, when it is clearly written that all who are born again are going to heaven. Is there a second or third "re-birth" that i dont know about? Or is it just some way to make them feel more righteous. I am very curious, and only want serious answers.

I am catholic and I don't believe that i will have any higher place in heaven then any one else. I don't believe there are higher places. Only our Lord sits on the high throne. I would not want you to join the catholic church just for the sake of joining. there are classes that the church offers that you can learn what the catholic believes. you do not have to be a member to go or join the church to go. I would want you to go to the church that you feel comfortable with your faith in. not for the fun parts or anything like that. you have to believe in what you're going for. I truly believe that we are all headed for the same place, we all just take a different path to get there. your faith lays within your heart. you have to be faithful to God above all. you go to the church your faith lives in.

Although I am struggling with my faith I was raised Catholic. Never once in all my 23 years have I ever heard a Catholic congregation push their church and beliefs on anyone. I actually took pride in the fact that you don't hear Catholics walking around saying I'm Catholic so I don't do this or that like alot of other Christian religions do. They don't make you fill out a paper on your visit so they can call and harass you. They don't make you stand up so everyone can see the first timer. I'm not trying to be rude I just honestly have never seen this. Again keep in mind that I am struggling with my faith and am currently seeking out other religions to find my place so in no way am I saying your wrong or that it didn't happen to you, I'm just saying what I have witnessed growing up.

well catholics have a diffrent way of thinking then you do so they believe that there are different stages of heaven and that people can end up in a certain level depending on how you live your life. I also believe that we all go to the same heaven. so its just a catholic belief that there are different stages of heaven. But you can only be reborn once. but if you stray from the church and mess up you can be cleansed or reborn by saying the prayer of salvation again but youll still go to the same heaven as someone who said the prayer of salvation once

Many people believe that their own viewpoint or religion is the only correct one, which makes sense, because otherwise they wouldn't believe it. You are an Evangelical, and thus believe that "all who are born again are going to heaven". They are Catholic, and believe that they have the correct church/set of principles set out by Christ. It's just as obvious to them that you need to become Catholic, as it is obvious to you that you need to be "born again".

"837 "Fully incorporated into the society of the Church are those who, possessing the Spirit of Christ, accept all the means of salvation given to the Church together with her entire organization, and who - by the bonds constituted by the profession of faith, the sacraments, ecclesiastical government, and communion - are joined in the visible structure of the Church of Christ, who rules her through the Supreme Pontiff and the bishops. Even though incorporated into the Church, one who does not however persevere in charity is not saved. He remains indeed in the bosom of the Church, but 'in body' not 'in heart.'"

"838 "The Church knows that she is joined in many ways to the baptized who are honored by the name of Christian, but do not profess the Catholic faith in its entirety or have not preserved unity or communion under the successor of Peter." Those "who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church." With the Orthodox Churches, this communion is so profound "that it lacks little to attain the fullness that would permit a common celebration of the Lord's Eucharist.""

God bless, hope this will give you peaceful insight.

What makes you think a catholic will be in heaven? Let alone a HIGHER place?

What did a catholic do to get salvation?
