Your body requires a certain amount of nutrients (vitamins, minerals and macro-nutrients) to function properly. If you do not give your body the right nutrition then you can become sick, this is malnutrition. You don't have to be skinny to be malnourished either because obese people are not getting a varied diet either to have a balanced amount of nutrients.
