I have two products for my cats. One is a flea shampoo & the other is treatment for ear mites. Both have a warning saying that if the stuff touches your skin, to wash continually for the next 15-20 minutes. Are the products really that harmful , or do they just put those things on the label so they won't get sued in the case of an accident? Also, wouldn't the animals be dropping dead if it were that toxic?

It's probably not that toxic, but some people may be sensitive to it so they say to wash a lot after you use it JUST IN CASE. I do, just because I wouldn't want to touch food or bite my nails or anything after I use it on my pet. Better safe than sorry. :)

If the shampoo is "Hartz" brand, DON'T USE IT!!
It is actually very toxic and We've had many cats come into my vet hospital in shock, and I have seen more than one die from chemical poisoning.

It's a shame that the brand is virtually everywhere, even after proving for many years to be deadly. The ear mite medication I'm not so sure about but if it does happen to be Hartz, I'd stay away from it.

Have you checked out any other brands? Do they say the same thing? You might want to do a little bit of research, in books or on the net, before using the products on your cats. Some of the lower quality, lesser known brands contain chemicals that may be potentially toxic, especially when accidentally licked off.
