My understanding is that it is the feminine aspect of God. Yet Judaism, and many other religions recognized Sophia as co-creator (Misstranslation, John 1). Are they one and the same?

Not exactly but you are on the right track. The word Shekinah is the Hebrew word for God's presence; it is a feminine noun and is said to reflect the feminine aspects of God. I'll post a link to an article below.

The preexistent Logos is identified with Wisdom personified in the Old Testament--a being with God from the beginning who created the world. Wisdome =Sophia in Greek.

The Shechinah, or Shekinah, is the glory of God's presence. Sophia was the goddess of wisdom. Two different things altogether.
