The Central Intelligence Agency is responsible for collecting information abroad to help with national security. I have 3 friends in CIA & you would never pick them out. They look about as dangerous as a little old lady. One taught self defense to fellow officers or Embassy employees in Germany. They rarely tell people who they are really working for, they say another department of goverment or private company usually

My friend in Germany has retired & moved to Colorado about a year ago. Great new job offer.

The CIA is not the international version of the FBI. The CIA is the Central Intelligence Agency which is one of many intelligence agencies in this country. They conduct covert and overt intelligence missions aimed at the national security of the United States. The CIA has no law enforcement powers.

The FBI is the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Their major objective is the enforcement of federal laws in the United States, and to a much more limited extent they engage in limited domestic intelligence operations.

there is a book called "for the presidents eyes only" by christopher Andrew, it provides brilliant accounts of CIA operations from when it was created right upto present day, although because of secrets acts the juciest stuff is from the 50's and 60's. how they tried to assasinate Castro, start wars by faking incidents to make it look as though the other side had been the aggressor. etc.

It's the American international spy agency known as the Central Intelligence Agency. The domestic version is called the FBI, or Federal Bureau of Investigation.
