I just turned 20 recently & have been married for a lil over a year & I just recently started wearing tampons more comfortably. I believe sometimes when you're a virgin it's harder to get it in there comfortably. Another thing I've heard of is that if your hymen is broken (which it can be by other than sex) then it a strand of it could be in the way & when you try to put the tampon in, it hurts cause it's going against it. The only suggestion I can give if you really want to be able to use a tampon, is to find the smallest slimfitting ones available out there to start with. & try putting a little bit of lubricating jelly on the tip of it, the end that you first push into you. I used tampons during my beach vacation a few weeks ago, for the first time, & I had to use the lube on them every time or it wouldn't go in right or comfortably. I still prefer pads though, I'll probably only use tampons for swimming. There's a website called www.beinggirl.com. It has a lot of information for girls & periods & such. They also send you sample pads & tampons to try out if you ask. & remember, if it doesn't go the first time, just throw that one away & try again. I had to try several times at first. & after that I had to throw away a couple more later. But it got better. I hope you figure it out!

Well My best guess it that you are not inserting it right. (I had a similar problem when I was starting out.) The tampon doesn't actually sit on the vagina, but it is inserted into the vagina. Being a virgin doesn't have anything to do with being able to use tampons or not. Many virgins comfortable used tampons regularly. It might be a matter of education yourself as to the proper techniques in inserting a tampons. But don't feel bad about these struggles. Many (most) girls go through the exact same trials at first. I can't tell you it definately will get better sweetheart. Just one thing before I close there is a rare problem that a few girls/women suffer from which is they have a tough or completely closed hymen, this would make is difficult to get a tampon into your vagina. This condidion is reversable. If you have a trust family doctor try to speak with them about your difficultly using tampons, there might be some thing very simple they can do for you. Good luck, Kiddo...

You can absolutely use tampons if your a virgin and everything is normal. Even if you are young.
If you have a mother figure that you feel comfortable talking to then just get the courage and do it.
The best way to try it first is to lay down and bring your knees towards your chest. Stick the tampon into your vaginal opening with one hand until just the skinny part and the string are sticking out. Then with the other hand push up on the skinny part and that lodges the inside part of the tampon into your vagina and pull the rest of the tampon out and the tampon should be inside you with the string hanging out. When it feels full or you start leaking blood then it's times to change. It's also good to wear a thin pad with a tampon so you don't unexpectedly leak.

Um I wore tampons while I was a virgin and had no problem. But let me tell you, they don't go "on" your vagina. They go "in" your vagina. Maybe you can ask a close friend or your mom or an aunt or sister or someone to help you. Don't be ashamed of your body. Call your doctor. Ask if she can help you put one in. Have you practiced with a mirror? Always wash your hands before touching yourself down there! First off, you need to make sure that you're using the smallest one they make, which is the "junior" or "light" absorpbancy. Secondly, make sure your vagina is wet, either from the menstrual fluid, or use some KY jelly on the tip of the tampon. If you're having trouble with the cardboard applicators, try the plastic. Also, the OB ones, without applicators are good for beginners. It's never fun the first time you stick anything up there, because you don't know your body yet. Spend some time getting to know your own body. It's OK to put a finger up there to start. Feel yourself, that way, you know your body's angle, everyone is angled differently, before you know it, you will be puttin' those tampons up there like a pro. Also, Tampax, Kotex, and all those companie list help numbers on their boxes. ASK THEM, that's what they're for! But seriously, don't be afraid to check things out down there, and if you're nervous it's just going to make it worse, you need to relax, and relax your muscles. Take care of yourself! :)

You can not be ready for tampons from your age and being underseveloped for it. Or since you area virgin, that can block it too. Try some k-y jelly to lube up the area before inserting the tampon. This was suggested to my 14 year old ,by a pediatric nurse. If it does not work, your body may not be ready for tampons. Oh yeah, also use the smallest size available out there.

Well, perhaps that MIGHT be the case. Some women are more sensitive/delicate than others. Don't force it in there! If it really is troublesome, why don't you just use a regular maxi pad? People overexagerate the size of them.

No.
It is because tampons go INSIDE of you.
Read the directions please.
