when i was about 8 years old a praying mantis bit me on a tree...it was the ugliest creature i've ever seen for the first time....its face looks like an alien....body so thin but it eats grasshoppers and $hit...well from that day on i fear them ....i know for a fact that its a phobia...2 days ago i nearly sat on one while i was doing laundry...it was the scariest $hit ever...my husband had to rock me i was crying my a$s off...am never going back to that laundromat again...just like all the other places i've seen one...i mean this creature can turn pink!....it sits there and stares at me...wth!...please if anyone have/had a certain phobia i'll like to learn about it...cuz its so weird to feel this way.

Specifically: Mantidaephobia
actually I made that up...
taking the scientific name of the Praying Mantis and adding Phobia.
But it is an insect SO...

i dont know what its called specifically (entomophobia is the fear of insects I think) but Ihave the same problem with praying mantises and dragonflys and butterflys and beetles and crickets and grasshoppers and bees and spiders and snakes...I dont do well with anything that crawls, slithers or flys so I can relate.

Im sooo glad Im not the only person scared of praying mantis!!!Ive been scared of them since I was about 5 and Im now over 50 and still am afraid of these AWFUL HUGE UGLY bugs!!!!!I try to kill them but am scared they will bite me!!!!I HATE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd call them smart, they are about the creepiest insects around --they stare at you.
