I heard they choose the strongest-- and these were the last 3 born.. Two have died so far and I figure the other one will by tomorrow night. Why is she picking and choosing who lives and dies? I mean the 3 she is taking car of are twice the size of what the other three are.. She seperates them.. Why?

We have tried feeding them but they are like steadily gasping for air it looks like but nothing is in their throat.. I don't know whats wrong. They won't eat now. They were nursing just fine earlier. The mother is a year old.

It depends on how old the dog is, she might not be sure what to do. When we mine have had puppies we have at times had to force the mother to allow some of the pups to feed but after a couple of weeks she did fine.

i'm sorry if this sounds chilly or crass, yet, if the mummy is rejecting a puppy there is probably some thing incorrect with it. Take it to the vet and function it checked over. If there is a few thing which will result the dogs's high quality of existence have it euthanized. If no longer, word, retaining a newborn puppy alive and thriving is an finished TIME activity. someone may might want to be there with the puppy continuously, neonatal domestic dogs require commonplace feeding, of goats milk or puppy formula, day and nighttime and manually inspired urination and defacation and a consistent temperature above eighty 5 ranges for the first 2 weeks of their lives. it is not style to attempt to maintain a defective or susceptible puppy alive. some aren't to any extent further meant to make it, that is why dogs have litters.

I have to say that you are stronger than I am. I could have never let them die without intervening when the rejection became apparent.

However, I can tell you that all of the pups that I have saved this way have medical issues. The mother dogs know this and reject them. If the mother rejects all the pups equally either they are all sick or she is a poor mother or she is ill.

So you can save this pup but be prepared to keep it & it's health issues. It is not right to sell/give away a sick animal.

ps - this could be heart problems with the pups

My dog was relatively old when she had 8 puppies & she tried to reject all of them. She just didn't know what to do. I guess you could say she was a bad mom, sadly enough. But the vet advised us how to make a special puppy formula using puppy chow & milk (I think) in a blender. Not as good as feeding from the mother, but better than nothing. Good luck!

Can you imagine 6 puppies feeding on your tities. You must take care of the puppies that aren't being fed. You can feed them with a bottle especially for them. Go to a pet store and get the necessary milk for the puppy. Maybe she rejected them because someone touched them. Some animals do that. I don't know about dogs. good luck

6 puppies is a lot to feed, so it may be she rejeced them to feed the strongest. If that third one makes it until tomorrow, you need to go to the pet store and get some replacement formula. A call to the vet wouldn't hurt. It could be too late for the last puppy, but it may not be. .

okay, we had the same problems with kittens .... its the same..
dogs are not like people!!! they have more sences than we do they can tell if somethings wrong with the pup when it comes out or when it starts to get sick...it has nothing to do with the age!!!.... trust me on this one... the reason she feeds the others and not those is cause somethings eather wrong with the pups or she knows she hasent goten enough milk for all the pups and insted of 6 pups being hungry 3 can be full and the others could die so they dont all have to suffer but if the pups are sick she will take the healthy pups away far away so the healthy ones dont get it.... its totaly normal... you should go to a feed store and get a pet bottel ..yes they make them... about 3.00 and get some replacement...with electrilights.. cause it soulnds like they havent goten much to eat if you cant get to the store soon get something like a eye dropper and wash it out ..water will work it wont hurt them to get a little of it... get some milk and get it the same temp as the air... whole cow milk will work best if you buy cow milk goat milk works beter though... if they wont take it force it down them ..this might sound crewl but if you dont they will die make sure you dont drownd him dont let it get in its noes and ..this might sound a littel funny but... put him between your baoobs and very slowly drop it in his mouth the downward placement makes him swallow ...if he wont swallow then you need to get someone to help you and while you drop some in his mouth get someone to massause his throute it makes the mussels contract... if they still dont drink or they are to week to drink go to the vet in the morning and ask him for tubes and ask him how to tube feed them .. i would tell you but its best to be shown... hope he lives..

Mother Ntature at work, There may be something wrong with these three and she knows it or perhaps because they are so much smaller the other ones bully them for a nursing spot as they get weaker..you could try to put them to her breast and see if she will nurse them .If not just let nature take its course

His is instinct. Have you been touching them cuz if u have mothers will not recognize them and will reject them thats what my cat did 2 her kittens but we put her and her kittensin an isolated cage and she warmed up 2 them quickly if that doesn't work then try bottle feeding the pup with formula from your local pet store. Hurry time is running out for the little guy!

sometimes if the puppies are sick (even if you can't physically tell they are) then the mother will refuse to take care of them. In some cases it is just meant to be that they don't survive. The good this is that she has 3 that are healthy and that she is taking care of. :0)
good luck!
