several reasons 1) mark his territory (some breeds)
2) protest cause you did not let him out before you went to bed
to teach you a leason . . .
* Hey buddy i got to go take a dump real bad .... wake up
well that didnt work .....
* I'll dump on his pillow ... the smell might wake him ?
>>>> i bet he pissed somewhere near by too
>>>> just be smarter then your dog GOOD LUCK

Dog only behave like that if they are upset with you or you haven't been spending time with you...
I don't have such problem with my dogs, however i had a similar problem with my Cat.... I was sleeping and she came in to my room,
and peed on my bed so when turned over i felt it all over my back..
The next day, i gave my cat away....

he was either angry at you for something that you may have done to him or he may have just had an accident and your pillow was the closest thing to him.--he also could have been trying to get your attention to let you know that he isnt feeling well.

your pooch needed to go, and because they will find a place where they have done their business before to do it so it might just mean that either you or your pillow smells like dog poo.

He/she probably had to go. Make sure you let your dog out to go to the bathroom every night before you go to bed.

Any change in behavior, including bathroom habits, can be a sign of illness. I suggest a trip to the vet.
Maybe he ate something that made him sick. Was it diarrhea?

Perhaps the dog was to small to jump off the bed.

If not perhaps he or she had hurt itself when it jumped off earlier and refuses to do it again, for fear of being hurt again.
