I really don't want to have to go buy a pair of fishing gloves but if a towel won't work I will. Which works best? A lady that I go to the lake with uses a towel.I don't fish because I am afraid the fish will fin me when I take them off the hook. I really want to start fishing because it looks so fun.So which works best?

I have always used a towel. the gloves are just too much of a pain to deal with and i get a better grip with the towel. just grab an hand towel that is ready to be turned into the car washing rag. this size can fit nicely in some tackle boxes.

Guess my Daddy was a real man..he took the fish off with his bare hands..and if he got finned..he said ouch( or other not so nice words)I guess you could use a pair of yard work gloves.

You can touch most fish with your hands. If in doubt, just avoid the dorsal fin. Grip it from below, mid body.

never use a towel as it takes off protective slime and scales and you will be doing them a lot of harm. you will get the hang of picking them up by bare hands, just don't worry about it.

a towel is fine..the scales will grip the terrycloth of the towel..good idea...

Whichever is closest, I'll use either, but I'd have to say gloves.
