You didn't say if you already have a ticket or not.

If you are stopped for something, the best thing to do is be honest and admit what you did that you are being stopped for. Tell the officer that you know you were speeding (ran the stop sign, passed illegally or whatever) and that you know you shouldn't have been. DO NOT make up any excuses for why you were, they have heard them all and they know if you are lying, believe me, I know.

Most officers are only looking for you to admit you were doing something you shouldn't and if you do it right away with no excuses, MOST will let you off with a warning. It's when you start making excuses that they know are lies that the start to get irritated with you and then write the ticket.

Believe me, I've been there! I've done that!

If you already have a ticket, then you need to go to court and state your side of the story. Again, DO NOT LIE, but tell the truth. All you have to do is cast a little doubt on what happened and the judge is obligated to drop the case. The judge can only fine you if he/she can find you guilty BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT.

With traffic issues it is very easy to cast doubt if you will just take the time and revisit where the infraction happened and try to find something that would make it difficult for the officer to have seen you do it or prove that you did what he/she says you did.

Good luck and drive safe.

Did you get a ticket or are you planning to be stopped?

If you have ticket - an attorney can usually work a deal.
If you get stopped, I apologize & say I was keeping up with traffic & not looking at speedometer.

If lucky , the Officer is either really young - I remind him of his Mom or over 40 & I do not want to know what I remind him of.
But I have not had a ticket written in 33 years of driving - I have a nice smile. My daughter required a couple of attorneys. You would think Miss Co-ed NC could get out of it by herself.

I don't think I ever got out of one but I did get out of getting a DUI and like eight contributing charges and probably a few others when I was eighteen. I was wasted had eight drunk underage kids with me all younger than me, I didn't have a license, only the brights worked on the car and all I got out of it was no seatbelt $20 ticket. I was one lucky ba$tard that night.

I unintentionally put my palms together--hands in prayer position--and surprisingly the gesture actually caused the policeman to show mercy. He let me off with only a warning for cruising on through a four-way stop.
I had already stopped while the car ahead of me was taking its turn at the intersection then I rolled on through when my turn came!

Don't get pulled over; I've heard that works real good in most places.

If worst comes to worse, and it was an honest mistake just say so.

I went to court and told my side of the incident. Luckily, the judge believed me. It's best to tell the truth even if it makes you look stupid.

went to court and stated my case honestly. i told them i was speeding but that i did stop at the stop sign. so she reduced my ticket to the speeding and dropped the non stopping part.
