My 13 y/o son was diagnosed with Crohn's 2 years ago. He went through horrible bouts of uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea over a several-month period then was fine and then it happened again about a year later. He ended up in the ER 4 times in a matter of 2 months. I stopped allllllllllll fried foods and he has not had a problem with it since.

I also have a friend with Crohn's who has been treated with prednisone and also stays away from fried foods which helps her.

I have a child that has the same symptoms, except that he has Celiac Disease. Has your child's doctor checked for that? It is frequently misdiagnosised as Crohns or IBS. Celiac is the intolerance to Wheat Gluten.
If it is crohns, I believe you have to eliminate seeds, nuts, roughage, I can't remember what else. Also, check with a local Ped's GI about a support group. They can be a wonderful resource for life, school, doctor's, etc.

No, but my mom did. Hers was in her bowel and ruptured before they knew what it was, so surgery was the only option.

It did take care of the problem.

One book I read indicated that Crohn's could be a result of a systemic yeast (candida) overgrowth. If that is the case, then treating the yeast overgrowth may be the best treatment for the Crohn's, too.

I work with someone who has crohns! He is 20 years old, and I had never heard of it till he started working with me.

He is totally normal, there doens't seem to be anything about him, except that he can't drink alcohol, and sometimes he gets very sick. The closest thing I can compare it to is mono. Only because he seems to lose his apetite, and he loses a lot of weight.

In the 3 years I've known him, he's gotten very sick twice. Otherwise, he's very healthy, has played highschool footbal, and is a great guy!

Sorry, I don't know anything about treatments.
