It happens with HUGE weight changes.
happens with some STD's. (dont know your situation, so just letting ya know)
happens with stress. I missed mine for 2 months due to stress, then when it did come, it was so painful, and heavy.
happens when you have a tube baby. I had a baby in my tube, tests came out negitive, then I nearly died so an exray shown the baby, then they took it out of my tube.
and few others reasons as well. But I do think you should see a doctor because tube babies are no fun.

I got mine about 6 weeks after it really depends on if you breast feed. If you do than it takes a while longer/ After pregnancy you are very fertile and should use protection(s).Go to a Dr to get blood work to be sure mf! You dont even have to have your period yet to get pregnant after giving birth!!!

It was almost a year before my period came on a regular basis. It would go for like 2 days and then nothing for 2 months. It gave me a couple of scares.

You need to call your doc. Something may be going on. It does take a while for you periods to get regular after a baby. I know my son is 10 months and mine are not yet. I have on every month, but not every 28 days like they use to be. You may need to get on the pill just to regulate your period.

Are you breastfeeding? That will definitely make a difference. If you arent breastfeeding, I think they come back around 6 weeks, but your body is still recovering from labor and delivery and your hormones arent perfect yet, so they can still be irregular.
If you are breastfeeding, its pretty much the same thing, it can come back anytime, but may still be irregular. My child is 17 months, I got my first one when he was about 4 months and I've had them off and on since then.

I nursed my kids. (I'm actually still nursing the younger, who just turned 1.)
I didn't get a period for about 8 months the first time around. This time, I didn't get a period for 11 months.
If you're taking minipills, which are often prescribed for postpartum mothers, they will protect you against pregnancy but can make you very irregular.

It usually depends on if you're breastfeeding. If you are breastfeeding, it will take longer to come back. If you are sleeping with your baby, even longer. I breastfeed and cosleep with my daughter - she is 11 months old. I still have no sign of my period returning and the lack of time alone with hubby is sure proof that there's NO way I'm pregnant. :)
