My grandma had eye surgery a week ago and needs help getting around and going to the doctor. My mom and her sisters are doing everything they can to help her, but my uncle and his kids (16 & 20 year olds) hardly ever go. My mom is annoyed with him, but I think that if we are going enough it shouldn't matter. It is kinda hard though: my sister, younger cousin and I have been taking turns sleeping over when my two other cousins can help us out. Is it rude or impolite to ask them to help out more?

No, it isn't rude unless you ask rudely. If you go to them angrily and say, "You're not doing much here, you know," they might find you rude. If you ask them for specific things... you could say something like, ""Jenny's been sleeping over at Grandma's house and helping out on Mondays and Wednesdays, and I've been going over on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but both of us are busy on Fridays. Would you mind taking that day?" or "Grandma needs some groceries, could you pick up a few things for her?" they will hopefully take the hint and pitch in. If not, just know that you will be the ones with the good karma in the long run!

Some people just don't have a sense of family like others. If y'all can handle it I wouldn't push the issue with the family memebers that don't want to help without being asked. They're the ones missing out.

When my grandmother was sick and dieing..my mother was staying with her at her home, she called my Aunt (her sister) and told her that is she wanted to see her mother alive then she needed to come now! She said she couldn't get off work....(my grandmother died later that day) To this day my Aunt regrets that she didn't get to say good bye to her mom....I would talk to your cousin's before they are regretting it tooo, I just hope that its not to late.......

if they haven't done so they would probably resent her for being coerced into it. i wouldn't put your grandma thru that. just do it yourselves and feel good that you can help her and that you know she is getting treated with the love and respect she deserves. God bless you, you are a good person to help!

Ask them why they aren't helping out, maybe there's a reason behind it. If they are just being lazy, then it's OK to mention it to them...
